Buying a boat from out of state (what's the best way to do it?)

Good info. The original Clarion deck is there, so the remove works. It's actually the same deck and remote that I have in my current Sea Ray. I'm still using CDs in it (I don't even own an iPod!), so it's not that big of a deal currently, but the EQ in the boat has a bluetooth connection. I've seen the receipts for the stereo, and it is high quality stuff (total of ~$5,500 installed). I wouldn't pay that much for it, but it's bargaining tool. I offer him less, he says 'sure, I'll take the stereo out and you can have it for less.' I've sold large items like that before. He and I both know, however, that he doesn't want to take it all out. Anyhow, I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

$24k sounds a lot more in line when what I'm wanting to pay, but I haven't seen any in that price range that are low hours, well taken care of, and nicely equipped. I've got a 2005 Sea Ray right now that is in near perfect condition, and I can't downgrade in that department or I know that I won't be happy with it.

IT makes it tough when you're looking for something specific that is nearing 10 years old... there just isn't a lot out there to choose from and you've got to be ready to move fast on it. I missed out on a PRISTINE '99 Sport because I wasn't ready to pull the trigger. Lesson learned....
That was my exact situation, lost a few fair deals on PRISTINE boats because I didn't have my Scarab sold yet. Blessing in disguise though, the one I was most upset about losing I used as the golden child to compare everything else by. The boat I bought was in even better condition and bought it for less.

Things happen for a reason. When I decided to shut it off in my mind, stop pressuring myself about a luxury/material item and focus on what matters most (family, work, friends)...I sold my Scarab that coming weekend and found the SAN the following weekend. Sometimes you have to let go and let the man above decide when things are suppose to fall into place.

On the topic of that boat being high priced....

I hear that! I had let go of that '99 Sport disappearing and this one popped up the next week. I like the look and feel of the newer models anyway (the '99 was in great condition, but the styling felt OLD). We'll see how this goes....

Where is the boat you are looking at this weekend? Looks like it may be out on our lake, Cedar Creek. If so, it's probably been a Dallas resident's weekend cruiser for its entire life which would explain the low hours.

The guy lives in McKinney, but has a place on Cedar Creek where he keeps the boat. He's bringing it back to his main house this weekend and we're meeting at lake Ray Roberts on Sunday. He bought the boat from Texas Mastercraft a couple of years ago. I contacted Buxton Marine to see if they have any info on it since it is likely that they sold it originally back in '04.

Good deal. Bring a heater top, water should still be above 80 degrees and it should be upper 70's Sunday so getting a pull should be nice and comfy.
