Depth finder, transducer glue on inside or through transom

    Hi there,

We wolud like to have a depth finder Humminbird HDR610 as it looks,
Option, transducer glue on the inside signal through the fiberglass is atractive because of easy install. Is this working well?
Option mount through hull isnt my favorite, drilling is easily done but pierces my heart also.
Option transom mount does look cheap to me.

Anyone mounted this as an accesoire. Whats your experience.

Pucktransducer also angled type??? Both glued on inside XP920&T... and XAP920. Wherefore angled???

    Thanks for your help.

      Depthfinder mounting

You might checkout this thread and the ones within it. Not high on Hummingbird as they are real inconsistant with their readings. As far as mounting ... I suggest glue and shoot thru the fiberglass. It works well with a good unit.

        Brand

        I also looked for Faria,
the gauge looks exactly the same as Faria,
a quick look the faria is doble the price on a Humminb overhere.

          RE: Brand

They are much more over here also, but what is the cost of a new prop or having to have it reshaped, a bent shaft, rudder, etc. My point is, if you are buying it for protection of your boat while running in shallow water and/or into obsticles and doing damage to it, wouldn't it make since to spend the extra $100 or $200 on a more reliable unit to save 1000's?

            Protection

Protection, that makes sense. okay thats clear to me.

Because theirs a lot of talking about this device it isnt easy to conclude what OK.
My idea do it right the first time, ment is the mounting option, glue on, through or transom mounting.
I wont get a good look on this after al the forum talking about this subject.

The glue on inside device comes in a puck and angled puck, Hummbird documentiation doesnt clear which one when to take

The glue on looks the most easy cable could be skotr to the dash. Is it easy to unglue when the location isnt optimal.

Whats the standard position whem factory mounted.

              Jos,
I used the "glue-on" straight puck and mounted it under the transmission on our Pro Air. It worked ok last year. This year it's not working! I need to get in there and check all of the connections so I can't comment on the quality of the Humminbird units. I have the HDR600.
When I checked the inboat unit against a real depth measurement, I was about 2 feet "shallower" on the inboat vs. actual.
              hope this is helpful.

I installed the glue/epoxy version on my '83 and it worked fine after the depth adjustment. I did use the puck type. Purchased the unit through discount inboard marine. It took me about 1 hour to complete the installation. Oh yes this was the Hummingbird unit.
