Right after my last final of the semester, the boat won't start!!!!

Well, at least now I don't have finals to study for and I can go work on it.

You don't want to go to Lake O' the Pines this weekend anyway. The KYKX bass tournament is Saturday and Sunday.

I give fishermen as wide a berth as possible. I know they don't want to be bothered any more than I do. This is a really big bass tournament, probably close to 800 boats  on an 18,000 acre lake. Most of the fishing is on stumpy water, but their weigh-in point is a prime marina area. The boats are fast and the drivers are in a hurry. It's one weekend we stay away from the lake!

I got the boat running and went out yesterday. The water was like glass too!!! I wanted to go today, but I'm afraid gas prices aren't going to allow me to go several times a week....

          Oh well.

Get it converted to LPG (or the US equivalent), petrol (gas) prices here in the UK are now reaching £1.00 ($1.80 ish) per litre.
The initial expense of the conversion is far outwayed by the overall saving you make if you use the boat enough.
Purchased a LPG converted 196 late 2004 and used it all through 05, I estimate I saved over 50% on my previous years (petrol) fuel bill for the same usage.

BASC, what can we do if we don't have an on-site LPG bulk tank at our club?

Use exchangeble tanks. Most boats overhere are equiped wih small 40ltr (10 gallons) portable tanks. This way you can take them out and refill them at the petrol station.

Thank you Laptom. I can't find those tanks, here, in Spain. Could you tell me where can I buy them in the Netherlands?

I love fishing tournaments. Especially when there is a small channel all the boats have to run thru to get to weigh-in. Nothing funnier than watching hundreds of bass boats running 60 hit your mega surf wake. Just move your lead to the rear, fill the tanks, and run 9 mph untill they learn that it is not okay for them to buzz you while you have a skier getting ready to ski.

Speak to a local supplier, do a deal and get on installed. We have 3 boats at our club running on gas, we split the rental/maintenance cost of the tank which is minimal anyway. Our filling is done by a hand pump it takes a bit of effort to pump the gas in but it is a lot cheaper than installing an eletric pump and all that goes with it, ground work, new cabling, new electrical fuse box etc as the tank has to be set well away from any building. A lot of commercial clubs in UK run their boats on LPG so it must be the way to go to keep costs down, and in their case increase profits.
There is a slight loss of performance but with the bigger engines fitted you don't really notice the difference.
Take the plunge, you should recover your initial outlay in a season or two and then you will notice the savings.

Thanks BASC. The only way to go here are the exchangeble tanks as Laptom said. We have droughts very often here and the tank would be far from the water as the ramp to put the boat in the water... no way.

But I can't find those small tanks here or a web to buy them. I am desperatly seeking them...

Hi Adrian. try this http://www.midlandwatersports.nl/ website. It is all in dutch, I know, but write them an email at midland@wxs.nl .

Drop me an email at tvhoek@planet.nl if you need any help. I can look further at some local LPG supliers, they are much cheaper. Let me know.
