    Nautique Info requested

First posting for the wife and I. We are seeking info on a 1999 Sport Nautique that we are close to purchasing. Can anyone provide info on the pcm 5.8L 260 hp motor. Is it powerfull enough for this size boat, Is it reliable, I don't see too many of these boats out there with this smaller motor. Should we be concerned.... We love the boat and seems to be priced right. In search of your help.

Thanks Joe in Granite Bay, Ca

    Novo,

Posted an answer to this question on CCFan. Also, check NADA.com. It's kind of a blue book for boats. It will probably spell out the price difference for the smaller engine. However, be warned, the prices nada provides are usually a little lower than boats sell for here in CA, and they usually don't include trailer in the pricing. BKH

We had a 1992 ski nautique with the 260hp carberated motor. We were able to get 5 slalom skiers up with the boat.

novo85 - I have a 99 Sport Nautique, purchased it a year ago December and it is a beautiful boat. My was well taken care of by the prior owner and has been great. We put 125 hours on it last summer. But mine has the 310 EFI engine, so I am not sure about your basic question. The 310 has far more power than is needed. In fact you have to be careful pulling up a skier not to give it to much power. If you plan on weighting it down with alot of ballast for wakeboarding, that may cause a problem. We just added a FCT and rear ballast sac.

My 1990 Sport has the 351 carb engine and has over 1200 hours on it. Uses no oil and still pulls strong. Never had any complaints from people I pulled.
