Said "farewell" to my old friend yesterday...

    Gang,

This past Saturday I finally said "farewell" to the best boat I've ever owned. In 17 years, this boat never, ever left me stranded. My entire family (and my brother's family) all learned to wakeboard behind this boat.

I've taught countless people to board behind this boat. Well into the triple digits.

I know we're not supposed to develop emotional attachments to "things" but this boat will always be special to me.

Yep. I remember the day I went down to White Lake Marine and picked it up. So, so many great memories on this boat. I'm gonna tell ya, it was really emotional watching it go.

Of course I am getting another Nautique!

I can relate. It really is hard saying good bye when it's been trouble free like that. I only had 11 trouble free years on my old one, but 17??? That's a long time.

Yea I have NO complaints whatsoever. It never, ever failed to start. Not once. I replaced the steering cable after 13 years. Distributor cap and rotor at around the same time. The rest was just regular maintenance. Oil changes, transmission fluid, spark plugs. I had to replace one of the ballast pumps because I neglected to properly winterize them and one froze. I can't blame that on anyone but myself.

I had about decided I'd never get rid of this boat but our needs have just changed so much. Everyone wants to surf now and we're all really wanting a bimini top.

It's still in shrink-wrap so there's really nothing to see. I don't surf/ride in the winter so there's just no reason to take delivery of it now. I'm perfectly content to let it stay there until April.

Boats create memories. I still have my 89 BFN I bought new. Take care of them and they last a long time.

I tried like crazy to figure out a way to keep it. There just wasn't any practical way to do it. I'm still sad every time I look at the boat lift. This is the first time I've been "boatless" in nearly 30 years.

17 years wow. Congratulations on the new boat too. I sold my 2001 210 2 weekends ago and picked up a 2013 210 the same day. Had my old one 6 years, hated watching it get towed away by someone else. The kids were sad to see her go until they saw the new one!
