I am hoping to see a switch to Apple Watch integration, now that the Apple Watch Series 2 is more water resistant than the first series was.

I assume you're talking about the Surf Select remote which comes with the NSS. That only does side switch.
The Pebble watch does more. It lets you switch immediately or with a 3 second countdown. It also lets you adjust the push, change tracks on the stereo and adjust the volume.
This purchase by Fitbit is concerning because it's unlikely they're going to continue the product line.

I've been in boats where the rider has shot the NSS blue remote back in the boat and relied on the driver for switches. It could've meant it only needed reconnecting to Bluetooth????
As for the Pebble....their doesn't seem to be a definitive statement that any model works as promoted.
I spoke with my dealer and he is headed to Dealers Meeting this coming week and will be chatting with engineering team while there and will report back to me his findings on the acquisition of Pebble by Fitbit and how that going to impact us as owners...

PLEASE report the findings back here for the larger audience. I know all of us are wondering what's going to happen here.
I'll be at the dealer meeting too. I'll find out what the plan is if I can.

Interesting article about Pebble. It sounds like the SmartWatch industry isn't going to have the explosive growth that was once thought. I think that Nautique should develop their own product to interface with the boat like Malibu's SurfGate. No need to worry about software updates -- or the manufacturer going out of business.
This is what I'm told: as we know Pebble is no longer making the watch! But any watches that are left out on the market for sale will work with the surf select app.
Engineering is looking at options for another company but not sure on timeline. They will only be teaming up with a company that they know will be very stable so they don't have to run into a situation like the current one.
