The raptor will throw rocks worse, just putting my 2 cents in.

The 2017 Raptor is much more enticing now that they have a souped up Ecoboost. Should deliver more HP and torque then the previous 6.2L V8 along with better MPG. Can't speak to how the suspension does towing though.

2014 Sierra 1500. Very little towing as we keep it on a lift. Handles the little bit we do very well.

Have been pulling our 220 with a GL450. It manages the boat very well, and the 3 young kids enjoy the SUV while driving. I've been a bit nervous driving this thing around the hills of Kentucky/Tennessee - certainly don't want to put a new trans in my wife's grocery getter. Just bought a 2004 Tundra with a blown motor. With a new motor, fresh coat of paint (my family owns an auto shop) and a powered tonneau cover, it will soon be our new boat hauler/beater.

Fuel: 65 gallon at 7 pounds/gallon: 455 pounds
Boards, cooler, etc.: 200 pounds
Trailer: 1200 pounds
Total: 7755 pounds
And because you never want to be right at the limit, you need a tow rig capable of pulling 8500 pounds minimum and it needs to be properly wired for the trailer brakes.
