    Beach King Lift

I'm looking for a lift for my 2015 G21. Can anyone comment on Beach King lifts? I am looking at a 7000 lb lift. It has a Lift Tech Marine 24v dc motor. Anyone used these motors?

Beach King is a Minnesota company, I don't know if they are in many regions. I was considering FLOE, but they are coming in at about 5K more.

I plan on purchasing the lift at the Boat Show this weekend.

    thanks

On this page i don't even see a 7K lift. what am i missing? http://beachkinginc.com/products/lift-specs.html

http://www.lifttechmarine.com/dc-man...ch-marine.html ... I would NEVER have one like this for a boat over 3,000 lbs.

Look at post# 4 for my opinion, but this is my thought... https://www.planetnautique.com/vb5/f...t-buyer-beware

Beach King does make a 7K and now even a 8K lift. But it's not on the website. I've asked the dealer to send me all the specs. The previous owner of my G21 had a 6k Beach King and had good luck. He told me that they did now carry a 7K so that is how I found out initally.

I did question that motor on a 7K or 8K lift. They stated that it is all about the lower gearing they put on these lifts so the motor does not need to work as hard.

Does the motor you recommended in the other thread come with a DC motor. Didn't see any on that site.

Never seen that brand in person and their site does not provide enough pics or info to comment accurately. There are a few key factors in choosing the right lift for your needs: Water Depth, Canopy, manual or power, will you be putting in/out yourself, speed of lift??

Personally have had great service out of my Shorestation brand lifts, couple neighbor friends have Floe and Shoremaster, Floe is a great lift, not a huge fan of Shoremaster.

Know a couple people with beach king lifts on inboards - They seem to like them.

Lifttech is legit, have an ac one now, works great.

I have beach king 6k for my 230. Been a great lift. Only complaint is that 110v motor lift is very slow going up. I asked about a faster winch/motor but they advised against it.

I've also owned floe and they are a marginally superior lift , but the higher cost $$$$ for a floe isn't worth it.

I've been able to chat with a few people with Beach Kings and they have had positive things to say as well.

What was their reasoning for not going with a faster motor? I did plan on going with a 24v lift tech which is suppose to be faster than 110v.

Higher speed= higher motor and gear stress. Guy told he would sell it to me, but I'd be back every two years for a new motor. I solved the problem by going with the standard slower Motor, but I just bring a cold beer and drink it while the lift goes up

I don't know the brand of my lift but just a couple thoughts. Slow lifts, or in my case a lift w/ pulleys on the bottom, will be slower, but so what. Relax. You're on a dock. Enjoy.
Secondly, I would highly recommend the switch/lever for the lift be one that you have to stand at and hold. I have two buddies who have started their lifts and walked away not paying attention and drove the tower into the boathouse roof. Now, my stuff is old as the Ark, so maybe the new ones have a guard against that.

I have a 7k Beach King lift with a 26' tower canopy. Discovered one on my lake and just so happened nearest dealer had a special order that was cancelled--so I bought it and added the canopy knowing that we'd be upgrading our boat eventually. What interested me was the size and shape of the canopy and the zipper in back, to get in and out w the tower up.

I can't say how it is with a G23 (soon though!); but I did email the manufacturer directly with the specs of a G23 and asked if it would work. (Wanted to know from the builder--not the dealer. Just to be safe.) He replied right away indicating it will work--just saying to make sure to have four bunks and not two.

I used mine about half of a season with a 22' pontoon and a 1990 Ski Centurion Barefoot Warrior--obviously very light compared to a G, so no winch yet. Going to add a 24 volt winch this summer.

It's a great deal if it can handle the G; if not--I'll be upgrading. Canopy has been great.

Thanks for all of the feedback. It has crossed my mind about raising the tower into the canopy. I called Lift Tech and they will now be offering DC motors with stops this year. They have offered a AC model a few years with good results. So looking into getting that option.

Also he said the 7k lift is geared so low that it would still take sometime to raise even with the 24v winch. So he recommended going that route.

Thanks for the input on the four bunks. I’ll discuss this with the dealer as well. Possibly that 7K lift you got was the one the prior owner of my G21 was going to get, but then stuck with his 6K.

I really do like the tower canopy on the Beach King.

If not equipped with an auto stop, the lift switch should be similar to your horn button, has to be held in the up or down mode, when you release it springs back to off, forces you to stand there the whole time and hopefully not forget what you are doing. If speed of lift is a concern you really want to get a demo of exactly what you are getting. The hydraulic Shorestation and the Floe (think it's a screw drive) are very fast and quite. My Shorestation with the wheel and friction motor is pretty slow and somewhat noisy.
If you are planning on using shore power be sure and have a licensed electrician install or check your power source, electricity and water are a lethal combo.

I had the Lift Tech DC motor set up with 24v and it worked great for the season that I had it. I switched it out for the AC motor and it's just about the same speed as the 24v DC.
If you're concerned that the 24v setup will have problems then I would strongly recommend that you call Lift Tech directly ( Phone: (866) 319 - 8877 or (218) 454-0682) and talk to them about the pros and cons of 12v vs 24v. Very friendly and very helpful, ask about speed (rpm) and longevity, etc.

Depending on how much you will be raising and lowering your boat, the 12v setup could take a lot of time.

I switched to the AC motor because I could get the auto stop feature, it wasn't available on the DC motors at the time - might be available now.

I also bought a Craftlander lift with the Hightop canopy. Love it!
Regarding the canopy, looks like the Beach King canopy has a single zipper down the middle. I have two zippers, one near each corner, makes it real easy to get on/off the lift with the tower up.

I've got a Beach King 5K lift with a 26' canopy. Had my 2001 SAN 210 on it, worked perfectly! I love the canopy design. I just upgraded to a 2014 210, which is about 1K lbs heavier, I'm not too sure how it is going to handle it, but I'll let you know. It also has the 120V AC motor, which I also like. It has a remote so you can raise or lower from inside of the boat (I've never used the remote... but I'll have to try it this season).

It has plastic pulleys, but 2 years in and they look new. The bunk supports looked a bit flimsy to me, but no problems thus far with those either.

Seems to be a decent value.

The Beach King does have 3 zippers in the back. Their website needs some updating. This is what the dealer sent. They have some way to roll up when using your boat.

As for Lift-Tech I did talk with Steve who I think is the owner. Great guy. He did recommend 24 volt and let me know that Auto-Stop will be on DC models this year. He had many stories to tell about towers going thru canopies. Mostly around kids finding the remotes and playing with them.

I was going to go with a 29 ft canopy vs 26 ft. 26 would be fine form my G21. Any reason not to go with a 29 foot?
