Looking at new ride for this season and was curious of opinions from 15 to 16 G23. I will no doubt slam it whichever we get. Mostly surf and don't care about gadgets just wave.

The '16 will be MUCH drier inside the boat. The spray into the boat at surf speeds on the pre-'16 G-series boats (except the G21) is pretty bad if there is any wind.
Wave is slightly better on the '16+ boats, too.I own and operate Silver Cove Marine, which is an inboard boat restoration, service, and sales facility located in Mooresville, North Carolina. I think you need to demo a G and then get behind your 230 so you can do a side by side comparison. I think you'll be surprised how much of a relative bargain your 230 is. Didn't you have custom sacks made for your 230?

It depends on the wind in Fort Worth. I went from a 15 to 16 for 1 reason: the spray. But I live in the desert and it is always windy here. I also use my boat for plenty of family activities, so that means I can't always go early in the morning (the time it is usually calm), and sometimes I even pull a tube. Those activities magnified the wind/spray problem. Otherwise, I liked the 15 screen better, and haven't really noticed the wave to be all that much better. But I am easy to please with just stock ballast. The pumps are a little faster and make a sound like a jet engine as they spool up, which is really impressive to my friends.
If you don't have a spray problem, then I would do a 15 and save the extra dough for ballast upgrades.

I did have 750s and how ballast in 230 and wave was good. Ive been in a stock 15 G and it was similar to my slamed 230. I can only assume that the G slamed will be awesome. We trade every couple years or so because of hours and I'm stupid. The wife hates that I'm always trading them. Gets windy some here.
