Just wondering if I could get the opinion of people that have experience with both the 2013 G23 and the 2017 G23. I currently own a 2013 G23, we love the boat, and primarily use it for surfing and day cruising. I took a look at the new 2017 G23 at the Toronto Boat Show this past weekend, and it has some nice new features (nicer electronic screen, upgraded stereo, new tower/rack configuration, additional interior options, new H6 engine, and of course the newer hull design). I guess my question is mostly surrounding the surf wake, and the ride quality. For those of you that have experienced both the 2013 and 2017, is there a noticeable difference in the surf wake, and/or ride quality? Thank you in advance for your feedback!

there's a bunch of small refinements between the years it really depends on if you can justify it. The newer ones don't have same spray issue that the earlier ones had but this isn't an issue for, there's an upgraded touch screen, stereo, new motor to replace the 450, new tower.
The best imrprovement was the 2:1 trans.
I think my plan will be to run my 15 until the end of next season let my leg prove itself and upgrade once a couple more changes happen.

That is just my opinion though. I would go demo a 15 and a 16 back to back and see for yourself. For me, it was significant

I wouldn't switch over the hull design alone. From what I gather, it was a small refinement only to get rid of some apparent spray at surf speeds when the wind is in the wrong direction. And that's the theory only, because I don't recall hearing from actual owners as to whether that has made a difference for them or not.
The other improvements (stereo, motor etc...), may or may not be relevant to you, depending on what you're looking for.
One notable point though: I think that some time around 2014 or 2015 the transmission ratio and the shaft size were improved. So you can add that to the list of improvements as well.
Personally, I wouldn't do it. Trade-ins are always going to be very expensive. I don't care much for the electronics, and in fact I would take good old manual gauges and switches over L.I.N.C. any day (I can't tell you how many rides I have wasted because a less familiar driver couldn't figure out how to put more weight to one side, let alone adjusting the NCRS or even the speed!). And I don't care if the new engine has whatever new feature as long as my old one is running trouble-free and not making me Exxon's customer of the month.

I really think upgrading from a 13 to a 17G23 is just personal preference. I had the 13 and now have the 17. Both are great boats and the this thread as done a great job of describing the differences. We wakeboard more than surf on our boat. I will say at full stock ballast the wake on the 16-17 is slightly steeper. The wake is long with slightly more pop. Like I said we don't surf much but the change in the spray when surfing is huge and VERY noticeable.

I upgraded from a 2013 G23 to a 2017. What I like about the '17: 2:1 transmission, hull refinements, JL audio in boat speakers, new larger LINC, new boat smell. What I don't like about the '17: camera which makes tower stick up higher, step in rear bench seat, POS stereo head unit, gel coat lines (I liked the '13 better). Buying a new boat is an emotional decision not a logical decision but I'd say if you can afford it go for it!
