G23 Vs GS22 Vs Tige RZX

In the market for a new boat and trying to decide what to buy. Currently looking at a used 2016 G23, a 2017 GS22 or a 2016 Tige RZX demo boat. Boat will mainly be used for surfing and I can save myself about 15k going to the GS22 instead of the G or RZX.

Know it's tricky since most haven't been able to ride the new GS22, but do you think the G is worth the extra 15k compared to a new boat? I'm no professional and just getting into surfing but would like to buy one boat instead of having the urge to upgrade 2 years down the line lol

The 2016 Tige RZX should be the least expensive option out of the 3. Not sure what the 2017 GS22 goes for but a 16 G23 is up over $120. Let me know what the GS22 is coming out to.

i think the GS22 will be a great boat with great resale. i wouldn't go to a used G23 for $15K over a new GS22.

Wow, talk about different boats. It will depend a lot on what you plan to do with it. The G23 and the GS22 are two entirely different boats. The G has tall freeboard and huge amounts of storage, you can't keep it in a normal garage, it's a big big boat. The GS has a very low freeboard, especially compared to the G, is much smaller inside and is more maneuverable, it can be stored in a normal household garage though. The Tige is, well it's a Tige, it's size is between the two Nautiques and you'll find the fit and finish quite a bit different.
          Good luck in your search.

Storage isn't a problem as it will be stored in a building with ample room for either boat with the tower up. Like I said I'm mostly concerned about the surf wave, and trying to decide if the G's surf wave is 15k better than the GS or if I'll be happy enough as a casual non-competitive surfer with the GS. The Tige RZX is actually a pretty close comparison with the G in terms of size and fit and finish, I'd agree the other tige's aren't but I was pretty impressed with the features and finish of the tige.

The only other issue seems to be head clearance where the G seems a little higher the the GS. And the Tige with the best in that regard as the tower speaker pods are off to the side. I'm 6'2" and found my self feeling pretty cramped and hitting my head in the G and even worse on the GS.

If you get more feedback on the GS22 having a smaller or less push surf wave then go with the G23 or the RZX (based on your focus on the surfing). You will never not want a bigger surf wave.

The way I would think about the 15k price difference, that is only an upfront cost difference. If the cost is say, 100k vs 115k...if they both depreciate 40% by the time they sell a "few" years later, then with the 115k boat you actually only lose out 6k. Maybe that makes it easier to splurge on the better surf wave.

I have had a few boats over the past few years and have surfed many others. In my humble opinion, the G23 needs nothing from the factory. You can add a little weight here and there but factory ballast is absolutely stellar. Push a button and go.

From the looks of it, the GS22 has a nice wave but I think most people don't have much experience with it yet. Your only way to know will be to wait and demo both. I can't fathom spending over 100K on a boat and not driving it and surfing it (if that is your focus).

As for the Tige, I don't care what the RZX is, it isn't on the level with a G. I have been in many Tiges and crawled around them and the fit and finish and craftsmanship is not on the level of Nautique. It just isn't. And resale will be worse.

Obviously I am biased but if you are going to buy without a demo, then you have to go G23. It is proven to be top end fit and finish and surf wave. I wouldn't trust the GS22 without a demo.

Try and go out on these boats to figure out for yourself what works or not for you. At this level, I don't think that there are any bad boats, it really is up to you and what you need. One thing to consider HEAVILY is the dealership where you will (I assume) purchase and have the boat serviced. How they treat you, and other customers, says a lot and is worth a lot. Hey, these are fun projects, buying a boat is supposed to be fun. Enjoy the process and post something with pictures when you're decided!!

I guess the other one that might be on the list is a 2017 Supra SG. Seems like a pretty good surf boat for the price. Just trying to debate if it or the GS22 would be better if I'm dropping down in price from the G23 and RZX

Agreed. One of my friends has a Tige and it surfs just fine, but the quality just isn't there. I'm not dishing on the Tige at all. It's great for what it is. It's much less expensive than a Nautique.

I wish I could "upvote" this. I don't care how good the boat is if the local dealer is lazy or incompetent.

From what I've heard from fellow tige owners is that the deep v does pretty good in rough waters.

Well put down a deposit today for the 2016 G23, will be demoing the G and the Gs22 in the spring and if I'm not happy with the Gs22 I'll keep the used G. Think I might be crazy spending that much, but do do I love the G's
