While looking at boats I found a '07 236 in the same shape / similar hours as an '08 210. Am I crazy to buy a 210 when I can get more boat for the same price?

Yeah, I know the 210 is a better fit most of the time but its hard to walk away from the "bigger is better" idea. If I went 236, I would need a bigger boat lift. It might fit in my garage if the trailer had a swinging hitch. But my buddies and I still slalom ski. I'm on the river, which if great even for my 216, but when I go on the bigger lakes (a few weekends out of the year) the 230/236 would be nice...Last edited by vanhanbr; 02-14-2017, 05:27 PM.2008 SAN 210

I've owned a 96 Sport and currently own a 08 230.
The 236/230 is a much bigger boat. It's awesome. But there is a trade off. The wakeboard wake tends to wash below 21 mph so if you ride slower or have kids that you teach I can't say that's a good choice. The size and storage aren't even in the same ballpark as your Sport, you can take everything. You'll have a hard time flooding it too. It surfs excellent. My carpet stays out all summer. I love the boat. That being said I'm thinking about selling mine if you're interested. We've recently found a new ski spot and trailer it 2.5hrs each way most weekends and I want to get something lighter. My old spot was 10 miles. But glass water is worth the drive.

I have a 2007 236 Team Edition. I really like the wake at ski speeds, wake boarding speeds and surf speeds. I have 6 kids under 12 so the bigger boat is nicer to handle all the gear and crap we seem to take plus room for everyone. The wake at slower wake board speeds does wash out some, but with my 8 year old just learning, it's fine. Once he gets a little better, we'll be able to speed up and clean the wake up for him. My wife and I still ski and at 30+ mph the wake is great for that considering the size of the boat. The carpet snaps out and our next upgrade will be SeaDek. My 236 has the ZR6 engine and we haven't felt under powered. We really like the 236. Our only issue is how heavy the tower is, so we never put it down. I'm just building a garage tall enough to store it with the tower up.

We were in the same situation last year.We were leaning towards a 211,210 and 220.We live in the water and won't buy a boat again with carpet. We ended up with a 220 team and absolutely love it.On vacation last year we were next to the twin to our boat only it was a 210. Pictures online do not do the size difference justice, the 220 is a far bigger boat.I do know for what we do and sometimes the water we end up in on vacation I'm glad we went with the 220.If skiing is your priority I'm not sure I'd go 220.The 211 seems to fit the bill fairly well. There a 226 I see once in awhile however it's also a large boat for skiing in my opinion.

Thanks for all the good info. I took a good look at a 210 yesterday and it is still just a huge improvement in space/storage compared to my inboard. Only considering myself, I would still go 236/230 for sure. But I still slalom ski and we/friends/family all have young kids and I'm thinking we should probably start with the 210. We can always go bigger in a few years if room starts to get tight and 210 will be such a huge upgrade already. I have a couple 210s on the radar, hoping to do something as soon as the ice melts.2008 SAN 210
