Wife and I made it out the charlotte boat show yesterday to look at the GS22. Man it is an awesome boat. We loved it, but are torn between saving some money and getting a used G21 or ordering a GS22. Anyways, it has been a few years since I have looked at other brands offerings and we were very unimpressed. Especially with Mastercraft. The gap between fit and finish of a Nautique compared to any other brand seems to have widened. It seems like Nautique is the only brand trying to innovate every year and the other brands seem to be stalled or trying to concentrate their efforts on a value option. Maybe a sign of the market slowing down? Guess time will tell.

I like the x23 and x26 from Mastercraft, but I demoed an x23 last week, and I totally agree with you...the gap is wide. I know a ton of people love the surf wave on the x23, but I was not a fan. Honestly, the only other boat a really liked besides Nautiques at the Dallas Boat Show was the Centurion Ri257, and that was just because of the sheer size of it. The fit and finish doesn't even compare. No hinges on the lockers, wow. I have heard the wave is amazing, but even though my primary reason for a boat is surfing, it's just too difficult to throw away the creature comforts you get in a Nautique.Last edited by sgresham; 02-12-2017, 10:44 AM.

How much more money is the gs22? I thought the g23 was pretty close in price with the g21 so there can't be that big of a gap.

Truthfully these boats have gotten out of control with regards to price IMO.
I used to think that MC made the best looking wake boats, but I don't like the direction MC has taken with styling over the last several years. The swooping rub rail is ugly IMO.2007 Malibu Wakesetter 23 LSV, 1995 Cobalt 200

Yeah I wish we coulda have caught up Jeff! The Race City guys were top notch, and my dealer was bought out last year. Hope to do business with them if we can. Evening shade, in regards to pricing, let's just say that there are several 2014-2015 G21's listed for 25-30k less than a new loaded GS22. That would buy a lot of gas...

Unless you really love to slalom ski I see no reason not to get a G21. 25-30k buys a lot of gas, wakeboards, wakesurfs, cold beers, or heck you could even just buy the G21 and then use your 25k on a nice Nautique 196 and still have lots of gas money left over!

The intro-lines from the MC and Bu (Axis) do seem to lack in fit and finish..which I guess stands to reason. Only really compared the 200 to the PS, and both have impeccable fit and finish in my opinion. The X series hips are awful. It looks like CC is ready to purchase Seadek, with the amount they use on the G's. Regardless of your preference, none of them are getting any cheaper, yikes.'08 196LE (previous)
