Why I will always own a Nautique-major warranty claim

This was a little of over year ago. Long story short. 2013 230 250+-hrs

I had been captain all day pulling some friends surfing until it was my turn to wakeboard. Got in the water but the boat would not get on plain. I had the driver start draining the ballast some and give it another go. Still nothing. Got back into the boat and found a ton of water in the bilge. Shut everything down and started looking for a hose that may have popped of the engine or a through-hull fitting but couldn't find the source of the leak.

Luckily we live on the lake and weren't far from our dock. I let the bilge run for 30 mins or so to lighten the thing up before going on the lift. That's when we found the damage.

I feel if this would have happened on a big lake this thing would have sunk.

    Here are the pictures.

    I hadn't hit anything.

With that type of damage, i would have felt something and there was no visible damage to the rudder or prop. Dealer sent photos to Nautique and they immediately replied to fix it. I guess they had seen it before.

The repair took a little over a month, but I didn't care though because i didn't want the boat back. That type of damage worried me about the rest of the hull and with warranty running out the next year i told them to keep it

So they made me a sweet deal on this

Surprised you didn't feel tightness in the steering at all, that is some serious damage. U don't have to answer but were u using one of the suction cup wedge things when it occurred?? Or NSS maybe?? Was there any explanation from the dealer/Nautique on the cause??

And what the heck is the deal with all this trees in the middle of the lake??

I'm very surprised you didn't notice anything in the steering. You're also very lucky to have the lift near by. But it's good to hear they dealt with things properly and congrats on the new boat!

That's one thing I always fear, our boat is kept in the water with the trailer a 20 minute drive away.

That's the coolest looking g21 I've ever seen, glad they took care of you, but I'm now a little concerned about the quality control at nautique.

i'm a little confused by the post. you're basically saying that the QC or build quality was inferior which caused the problem, and you immediately traded it in, but that you'll always own a nautique?

I am starting to regret posting this.

This was all about customer service. They could have easily said Nope, you hit something, your responsible.

Instead, they stood behind their product.

Makes sense to me zip. They made a mistake and corrected it. Like any good company should.

I gotta agree with the OP on this one. I had the exact same thing happen to me with another manufacturer but the boat actually sank. Their exact statement was "you must have hit something, our boats don't sink". Now I happily own a nautique.

In this situation isnt driving the boat to the beach always the first instinct? Maybe if you live on a rock lake you wouldnt do that but if there is a hole in my boat i am beaching it.
