Does anyone know the actual weight difference between the older 5.7l and the new H5DI 5.3l engine? I have been looking for engine-weight specs and can't find them. I thought there is a pretty big weight savings in the newer engine, but I have now been told otherwise and want to verify one way or the other. Thanks in advance.

I doubt much. The 5.7 likely had iron heads and the 5.3 aluminum. I'd guess that amount to 80 lbs or so. You could go to wiki for GM LS engines. Find the weights. If the 5.3 has an aluminum block you probably will save another 80 or 100 lbs.
