Getting close, couple final questions for the dealer...

So, as some of you might recall, I bought a "96 SSN from a dealer in Ohio (I'm in Michigan). I'm getting ready to pick the boat up in a few weeks and I wanted to be armed with everything I can in terms of questions, water demo, things to examine etc. My wife and oldest went to visit her sister, who lives nearby, and she got to see it first hand and says it's in really good shape but she had no clue what questions to even ask. So, I've got a contact on CCF who gave me a list of some things to check out and wanted to see what you guys here had to add to it. Any help is much appreciated as I've never owned an inboard before, much less my own boat. Here is what I have so far:

    - Check for leaks at prop and rudder packings (I think this is under the inspection hole thing)
    - Check steering cable and linkage at rear starboard inside of motor bay (ok, I won't know what to look for but I can see if it all moves)
    - If low pressure fuel pump is original, replace it. Should have new filter, plastic tube and o-ring recently (not sure what this is but I can ask)
    - Bring grease gun for wheel bearings (I've been told this has been done but I will make sure to bring one)
    - Check to make sure both bilge pumps work (ok)
    - Make sure all breakers function, especially ignition one (we will have on water test and I will do this)
    - Put dial indicator on prop shaft and check for vibration on test drive (no clue what the indicator is but I will check for vibration at all speeds)
    - Look closely for repairs/damage near rudder (all good, flawless under there)
    - Make sure prop turns by hand on trailer (ok)
    - Obviously check for any leaks in general (should be good here)
    - Check oil level in V-Drive after ride, look for clarity and not milky
    - Check throttle travel for free and smooth movement throughout the full spectrum

Feel free to add anything you guys would look at as well.

Sounds like a good list. Turn on everything and check every switch. Should be able to drive with a couple of fingers. if it doesn't turn easily, steering cable is shot, should be able to turn on trailer with one finger. Watch gauges, temp should be ~ 160 continuous. Other that what you already, should drive like a classic muscle car. Acceleration should be smooth and responsive. Have Fun!

Thanks ski, looking forward to it. They told me they would take me on the water and go over everything so I'm not too worried. Just anxious since the wife and one of the kiddos go to see it before me ;-)

Cool, you can teach me how to properly pull a boarder. I'm heading down on April 28 and will be at the dealer on April 29. I can let you know what time once I get closer. Not sure what the water temp will be but we can chat about it later. Thanks again for all the help with this. I'll bring you a beverage.
