2013 Nautique 210 - Prop Upgrade, then Ballast Upgrade

    Hey Guys,

I have a 2013 Nautique 210, A couple of pics are attached, cause everyone loves pictures. These pictures were taken from my drone, at our Nautique Owners Reunion, for New South Wales, in Australia. It was a ripper weekend.

Anyway, I'm looking at doing a few upgrades to the boat, throughout winter for us, down her in Aus. It is still warm enough at the moment to use the boat, so more like July and August for us, unfortunately the boat will be parked in the shed.

So as the title says, I'm looking at upgrade the Prop on the Boat, and then looking at changing the rear bags in the back as well. So what does everyone recommended? and what setup are you guys currently running?

I currently have the ACME 1579 Prop, and running standard Ballast, plus the factory fly high kit, which I believe consists of the following:

    Standard Ballast:

Belly Tank = 200 kg or 440 lbs
Rear Tanks = 100 kgs each or 220 lbs, Total 200 kgs or 440 lbs

    Fly High Ballast: Piggybacked
Front Nose Bag = 300 kgs or 660 lbs
Rear Bags = 180 kgs or 400 lbs, total 360 kgs or 800 lbs

These are approximate, so correct me if I'm wrong

    So my questions are:

    PROP UPGRADE:

I'm looking at upgrading the current prop, ACME 1579, to the ACME 1235 or the equivalent OJ Prop, depending on price/availability etc. and yes I know that this prop could cause prop burn, or is there a better prop to run? but it also means I can upgrade the rear ballast, which is the next question. I want to be able to run more rear weight in the boat, and get it on the plane easier.

    BALLAST UPGRADE (REAR):
Upon upgrading the prop, I would then look at upgrading the Ballast setup, mainly the rear, which will include, removing the current Bags and also the Hard Tanks, and replacing them with either the Fly High 1100lb (500kg) bags or the Sumo Sacs 1000lb (450kg) which will bring my total ballast from 2400lbs (1100kgs) to either 3300lbs (1500kgs) or 3000lbs (1400kg) depending on rear bags. So it will be more weight in the rear, to help lip the wake up even more, because I like a really lippy wake.

So guys, let me know what you all think, and any feedback, responses will be appreciated, this will be a winter project for me here in AUS.

    Cheers
    Jake, from AUS

ANd yep, that is a 1953 Correct Craft Aqua Skier, that gets used here in AUS, it is a weapon!

I have the same boat and run the 1579 with stock ballast and 750's in each rear and a 370 pound fly high tube sac in the ski locker. With a full boat and all ballast full it does struggle to get to wakeboarding speed, but zero problem for surfing. I hear people pulling rear tanks for 1100's and I guess you gain storage by doing this, but my setup is only 100 pounds less in each locker and significantly easier to install.

Acme 1617 as close as you can get to the 1235 without going 1235 . Much better than the 1579

go with removing tanks and adding 1100's

youll never be able to wakeboard with the 1100's full unless you add 900 plus to the nose. It you can run them full to surf if you don't have NSS and need to list.

Puling the tanks is as easy as installing the piggy back system. I did a step by step in how to do it if you search my name. And you gain sonmuch more storage if you have to trailer your boat.

We have run a 1235 on our 210 for a couple of years and no prop burn (although I do know that some 210's get it with a 1235)

I understand a few boats that have got prop burn have had a small amount of glass ground out in the burnt area and a stainless or alloy block stuck in. Ask Ben from NC in Gold Coast about it.

In my opinion the potential downside of the 1235 is only fairly minor and can be fixed.

I have no experience in the performance comparison between 1235 and 1617. Somebody on here may have used both?

Jake-- the best wake prop for your boat (heavy loads 0-23mph) is the ACME 2315.

          this is well documented.

Prop burn is when the prop is too close to the hull and will burn or wear away the gel-coat. Generally caused by to large of a prop that wasn't intended for the boat.

the 2315 is a 15inch diameter prop. It will not fit on a 210. The 1235 is a 14.5 diameter at that barely clears. No way a 15inch diameter makes it

hey jake, i have the exact same boat. i'm in nsw. i went through all the info and decided on the 1617 prop and removing the hard tanks and putting 750 bags in the back. nautique central did say that it was mainly the older boats that got prop burn from the 1235 but i didn't want to take the chance for minimal gain if any from the 1617. removing the tanks mean i can fit 2 boards in each locker when there emtpy, and when there full still fit vests ropes ect on top of the bags. I am thinking now the 1100 would of been good instead of the 750, but i have just added a couple of lead weights for now. if you need any more info i'm happy to help.

gotcha. Then he needs a 14.5 x12.5-13 ish.

get as close to the 2315 specs as possible. 1235 is a mile away.
