    230 surfing question

2013 SAN 230 w/ NSS. Removed rear hard tanks. 910 lbs plumbed in each rear. Factory belly tank with 650 lbs piggybacked in front. Roughly 2800ish total. All filled with NSS at 3 and 5 adults on board I have a great starboard side wake. Not so good on port side. Played with speed between 10.5-11mph. What needs to happen to get port side dialed in? It was very mellow, not high and no curl. Help!?

I have found sometimes it helps the port side to go a little slower and that helps for me and on my buddies 230.

Ha! It looks like you have the same issue I have... I'm carrying a little 'extra' ballast above the waist.... lol

Try having the boat list to port a bit by having more weight on that side, to fight the prop rotation. Usually 200 lbs offsets the prop rotation, a but more than that might give you a better curl.

All 3 pieces of advice are golden so far. I have nothing to add except you might want to add more weight. I have 3750 lbs onboard whenever I surf.

That much weight on at 230? How is your weight distributed? Thanks

My boat backs to the starboard side. So for surfing shouldn't the better side be port side? Thanks

I have the same issue on my 08 210. Even with the nss it's not a simple flip the nss switch .........To get a bit more push on the port/passenger side you have to empty the starboard bag1/4-1/2 and adjust the hydro gate along with obviously deploying the NSS

I could be wrong but I believe the spinning of the prop 'twists' the boat in the opposite direction, meaning it drives the starboard side of the boat into the water. If you weight the boat evenly at wakeboard speeds, is the port side washy and the starboard side clean? That is a similar problem, balanced out with extra weight on the port side. For surfing, a slight list helps too, meaning even more weight is needed on port side. Mine pulls to starboard in reverse as well, as I believe most modern nautiques do.

Yep. Simple. There are a number of threads on this forum talking about it. In my case, I chucked the pro ballast bags and had custom bags made for the front and rears by wakemakers. Super easy install. My 3750 lbs is no BS or guessing, but includes 400 lbs of leadwake bags spread pretty evenly throughout the cabin storage areas. I'm pretty sure it's 250 on the port side and 150 on the starboard side. All hidden. I'd post pics, but my computer is pretty much toast. Lost everything last week. PM your email and I'll send pics if you need them.

Whoops! Just noticed yours is a 2013. Mine is a 2015.

Like everyone said, little more weight on the surf side is good with the 230 hull even with NSS installed. Something you can play with passagers in the boat to help with that.
I have 1100 each side in the rear and near 1000 in the front and it's a real good setup.
