% off used boat

I've read the large thread "Discount off new boat" thread and just about every other % off msrp thread.

What about used prices?

What kind of percentage would you expect with "average" used prices? Boats priced about what you expect. Not the cheapest used G23 and not the highest priced used G23.

For example...let's say a 2016 G23 loaded, low hours, 550 engine priced at $122K or a 2015 G23 loaded, low hours, 550 engine priced at $109K. Obviously I would like to get the best price I can. What would you expect an offer to be without lowballing???

There is no set standard for used prices. Condition , options, location, demand, availability, and what people are willing to pay really drive the used market. Some buyers price to sell , other buyers price on a hope and a prayer some guy will meet their price. The best thing to do is find a used boat give us the low down on options, maybe even a link and we can give you a solid going rate. Used just has way to many variables to nail it down. Even at dealerships. Some are on consignment with owners asking way too much , others are priced high because dealership wants their cut of the consignment. Some dealers price way high to make it seem like they are giving you a steal. Others price to move boats. Again way too many variables.

Not to sound like a $&@ , but a used boat is always worth what someone will pay for it. Only true pricing scheme you can follow on the used side

Swatguy pretty much nailed it! You're only going to get a seller to come way down on their price if they've overpriced it to begin with or the boat's been used and abused and they know it. We're not talking double digit percent mark downs here I wouldn't think. Best advice I've got is shop shop shop and you'll figure out where the market is at

Both Swatguy & Homer12 summed it up perfectly. Can't even really compare to shopping for a used car, boats retain their value a lot better and since they're toys (albeit expensive ones) the emotional connection when you find/want one is much stronger. Shop, shop, shop. Establish a budget and shop some more. This forum is an awesome resource, members are generous with information and/or assistance in evaluating a boat that is far from you. Fun times ahead, boat shopping is exciting!!
