I just upgraded from my 230 to my G 23 and the noice level difference is huge. Also the fuel consumption is almost double granted we never did so much wake surfing before but I was surprised when 65 gallons only last me 7.5 hours. Noise is little annoying but having the volume go up and down but it self certainly helps. It would be annoying having to hear the engine the whole day.

I wanted to kick this discussion back off. I’m back looking at alternative props, and want to change mine in the next couple of weeks. I’m between the 3081 and the 3087. Who has one of these two? Thanks.

Guessing you have the H6? I’d say try the 3081, and if you have problems turning it when heavily loaded, swap it for the 3087. Acme is awesome about making sure you are happy with your prop. They’ll swap with you till you are happy, and only charge for freight on the swaps.

based on what I know, and the other data in this thread from others, the 3081 should be a nice fit for the H6.

I reached out to acme last year and they said I should get the 3087 for the H6. I still have not decided which way to go.

I do have the H6. Delta was very hesitant to endorse the Acme 3081, even though I told them I rarely have more than 6 people on the boat. They did all they could to steer me to the 3087.

I just went to their site and it is interesting that both props 3081 and 3087 say "will not fit g21 or g25". g21 ok, i get that maybe cause stock g21 is 17" vs 17.5 and 18" on those 2 props. But g25?

With all of this talk of alternative props, anyone have a spare Acme 2561 they want to sell. I always need a backup and for my use the original factory prop is just fine. Procrastinating to spend another $700 on a new prop for a spare.

I do. I took it off my 17 when it only had a couple hours on it. PM me if interested. I don't have a G anymore, so I have no use for it as a spare anymore.

Has anyone been running the 3087 on the XR7?

For those running the 3081 with the 550 - Are you still happy with it? Have you found any downside?

Still hesitant to jump in the non-stock prop pool. : )

I've been doing some testing of Acme props this summer on my 2018 G23, with the XR7. I've tested an 18x16 with .12 cup (3315), and an 18x15.5 with .09 cup (3313). The 18.5 is an absolute beast, and will get to 23.9mph in about 14-16 seconds, fully loaded. You run similar RPM as the stock prop, with equal weight in it...just gets on plane about 8 seconds faster. If you want a prop that will get you to wakeboard speed, quickly, no matter how much weight you have in the boat, this one is worth giving a shot.

The 18x16 reduces the RPMs by about 250-300 rpm, and takes about 3 seconds longer to get to speed. There does seem to be a limit to what the 18x16 will do, as it never goes above 4700 rpm during the hole shot.

                          Thanks ironj32

To make it even more confusing - Acme sent me an email this morning recommending the 3345 (18x17.5) saying "We have found that to be the best prop with the supercharged engine". Same diameter, same pitch, same cup - but a 3" hub instead of 3.375". The stock 2561 also has a 3" hub.

                          I may just stay stock. : )

I think an 18x16 or 18x15.5 is overkill for 95% of the population, and is pretty much only going to benefit those who want to get to wakeboard speed with 2500+ pounds of extra weight, and don't want to take 20-22 seconds to get there. Max speed on it is about 35mph.

This is interesting information. I have the 3081 on my 2017 G23 with the supercharged 550. I recently had a transmission failure because the front shaft failed and leaked all of the transmission fluid into the bilge. After a month in the shop, the dealer contacted me and said that they believe the 3081 may have been a contributing factor. According to the dealer, the hub of the 3081 seats extraordinarily close to the strut. It doesn't touch, but they dealer explained that under load, the pressure the prop placed on the strut due to the close proximity "may" have caused the front seal to fail. I don't buy it. And I don't believe that it caused transmission issues. But ACME's recommendation of a prop with a smaller hub makes me wonder if it has concerns about the seating position of the props with larger hubs.
