    Old Boat. New "Air" graphics?

I just had the gel buffed and polished so they had to scrap the decals. I have a '92 Sport Nautique with tower, racks, speaker box, the lot. It throws a great wake and I think is deserving of an "Air" sticker. But I wonder about betraying the heritage of the boat and if I should stick to the original sticker. I am wondering what you guys would do in my situation. The boat is just bare right now with only the white pinstripe on there.

Here are the 3 options I am considering. The Air graphics are actually a little cheaper according to the dealership.

My '92 (sorry the contrast is bad. You get the idea) (sky blue, grey and white):

Nice boat, I think you should keep it a Sport Nautique. There is nothing degrading about a sport, they are great boats, just like any other Nautique.

I like the newer graphics, or none at all. I took the letters off my '95 SuperSport because I thought they looked dated. Now it's just the blue & black stripes like yours, very clean looking.

I wouldn't put stickers back on the boat. But if I had to make a choice, I would go with the...nope, I'd still go naked. Clean....clean...clean....the classic look NEVER goes out of style.

For the record, I HATE all the Air graphics that have come after 2003. CC just keeps getting gaudier and gaudier.... Maybe they will have MB Flames by 2008.....

I had a Sport before I got my 211, and switched out the graphics for the 04 Air ones...I personally think it made the boat more up to date and better looking....I am not a big fan of "classic" logos...I personally couldn't stand the "Sport Nautique" logo..So plain and boring...

              Just my 2 cents...

Keep it plain. Putting a newer air logo on a classic boat is a bit odd to me, that is my opinion though and it's your boat. My buddy had that same boat, it was awesome. The stickers were peeling and we took them off. the boat looked great plain. Maybe just redo the simple Nautiques logo at the rear. Personally I like understated boats.

I will agree with Deuce above, the original air logo is still the best, IMO. Oh yeah, and BRING BACK COLORED DECKS!!!!

I say stick with the classic look...if you ever try to sell the boat you will have to constantly explain the decal discrepency.

How deep does the black and blue color go into the fiberglass? Is it possible to change the color of the hull?

I have a 99 sport and I am not a big fan of the lettering. Keep it clean. I am thinking of going that same path.

Changing the color is not really plausible. It would require applying new gelcoat to that whole area. That would cost a couple thousand dollars vs a couple hundred for decals.

Thanks for the advice guys. I do like the clean look. Although it looks a little bare to me. One of the reasons I like the 2002 Air graphic is because it is small and clean. I think I'll sit on it for a while and see what I think. I narrowed out the 2004 though. It's just to big and flashy.

Go with what you like best!

My opinion, however, is that font is classic and won't go out of style. There's a reason CC has gone back to offering it on their ski lines.

I think any of them would look great and add your personal "style" to the boat. You don't have to use the entire graphic either, for instance, I used the awful 2004 graphic and cut out the part I liked:
