    2016 Vs 2017 G23

I have a deposit down on a used 2016 G23, but I am starting to 2nd guess myself if I shouldn't just go all the way to a 2017. I really love the new screen and being able to split it between two different functions on the screen. Having to switch back and forth on the 2016 seems like it would maybe get old fast. Add in the bigger subs and few extra nice features (surf pockets, more USB connections, new tower) It has me thinking that the resale on the 2017 may be better then the 2016 down the road as the 2016 seems like it was a one off with it's dash design and some of the features. Almost like they hurried up the 2016 then refined it all with the 2017. Maybe I'm just trying to talk myself into it lol... But it's a $20,000 CAD difference between the two so it is a bit of a hard pill to swallow.

Guess one other added benefit would be the 2017 would have full warranty as the 2016 had 30hrs and a year off the warranty. I know my brain says save the money but my heart says go big or go home!

i just got a new to me 2014 g21...and the home screen has speed, and stereo volume...i don't really see need to switch around much once wake is dialed in...and if wake is not dialed in you just hit ballast button and then back to home...so as much complaining that exists make me really worried about it...but i am pretty pleased.

I just had the same dilemma. Went w the 2017 as I figure I am keeping this for a long time.... The new screen and being able to customize were the deal sealers for me.

If you're content with the colors and features on the 16, you could afford the most awesome aftermarket stereo ever with all the USB's you want and still have plenty of money left in your pocket. Surf pockets can be added too and the screen features won't mean as much once you dial things in.

Thanks for the feedback, think I gave my head enough of a shake and am going to stick with the 2016. I am already stretching my budget as is getting into a G23, pushing another 20g into it probably isn't the smartest thing. Will the 2017 be nicer sure... but will it give me 20g more fun on the water than the 2016, I don't think so. The 2016 at least has the new hull, and control knob thing, and the JL instead of Polk. So really 20g for a nicer screen is kinda dumb lol

Its just as well that you went with the '16. There really isn't a huge difference between 16 and 17, and I doubt it is going to effect resale much, if at all. If you went with the '17, you would probably just be annoyed that you spent the extra money after you found out the changes for 2018. Its a never ending cycle.

Plus, I wouldn't be surprised if the G series gets a major refresh for 2018, instead of minor tweaks like 16, and 17. It is overdue for it......

Ya I am a little worried when the major refresh is going to show for the G series, like you said it's overdue, but guess can always trade the 2016 in when that day comes if I really want to go down that route. My boat is sold and currently boatless so something has to happen this year lol

Go for the 2016. I think I know which boat you are looking at. It's blue, right? If it is, that's a beautiful boat. I recently purchased a 2016, even though the 2017s were available. But because I was at my budget limit, the 2016 was perfect. I have yet to get my boat from the same dealer, if I'm right about the boat you are looking at. No regrets on my end for the 2016 over the 2017. I was a budget thing and the changes to 2017 weren't significant enough for me to crave a 2017.

It's actually the red one with white bottom that is listed as sold on wizard lake. I was originally going for the blue one but they had more room to move on the red one.

New tower? I have not heard of this. Regardless, it is difficult to imagine a better tower, it is extremely sturdy.

I have enough USB ports to charge several items, which is all we need at the lake. I just need something to call for emergencies, and something for music, and the goal at the lake is to get rid of the electronics.

It took me a minute to get used to the screen, but now that I understand it, I don't have any concerns about it. Especially because I put a separate volume control knob in that is so much faster than a touch screen could ever be. I really think it would be a terrific stock option.

Whenever you can get a red boat, you can't go wrong.

2017 now have billet section of tower instead of all tubing like 2016 and prior.

Every new year model will come with some new or upgraded stuff. However, down the road, the price difference for resale will be first and foremost the state of your boat. Assuming 2 equivalent maintained boats, yeah the 2017 will have a premium but less than the current price difference between a brand new 2016 and 2017 as of now.

Keep your boat in a great shape and you will get more $ from it at the resale stage. Unless you got a lemon .

I was in the same 'boat.' *see what I did there* I'm getting a 2016 with 0 hrs and its 20k cheaper than the 2017 I was going to order,.. with a couple less options, of course. Performance isn't going to be any different and I would probably be a bit sour if they did do a big change for 2018 after getting a 2017. My dealer has an upholstery guy who can potentially sow surf pockets on the bimini. I doubt this will cost 20k
