    1st day out G21 Coastal - Surfing

Got out on Mission bay (San Diego) for the 1st time yesterday at Sun up.
    Crew was-
    Local WakeSurf instructor Marco.
Local Regular Skim Style rider Lisa
Local Newbie WakeSurf 1st time student Devon
    Myself.

Me and Marco spend 40min on the Bay Changing Ballast and my Lead around based on some tips from other owners.

G21 - NEEDS to be Counter weighted by 200-400lbs to PORT for Good Regular SurfWave.
this seems to be a known fact amongst G21 Surf owners.
*I will say the Younger guy at the Dealer I worked with was forthcoming with this Fact/Rumor PRIOR to my purchase.
17x17 Prop and 2:1 trans , Short 21 V Bottom, all seem contribute to this issue IMO.

I only got a few pics as I drove most of the Morning.

    WetSuit is Lisa Skimer
Red Shorts is Devon newbie on Longer Board- She dropped rope on 3rd Pull out.

Wave review? TBD... But my initial feedback from Marco and Lisa was more than Positive.
Marco owns a SS Axis T23 and a Freshwater Centurion F something, he stated the Push was as good or better than either of those Boats he has set to Surf.
In fact he said one of the best he has tried. He has taught over 950 People to Wake Surf and Rides several times a week 12 mons a year.

I rode a Bit at the end, and was also very happy.
I really like being in Salt Water...I hope this boat does too.

    Still some tweaking to do.

PICS below ...same ole story " don't do it justice".....lol

To clarify - you are putting 200-400 pounds extra weight on starboard side - rear locker? When you are surfing off the port side? Seems backwards though maybe sinking the tss plate deeper helps? Generally seems that extra weight is usually put on surf side.

would this also apply to a 2014 g21 with the 550 engine with the lower transmission ratio? I'm not sure which prop I have I'm embarrassed to say. New to me boat and seems to work well with stock ballast and settings. If anything we tend to
put the extra person in port rear corner to give wave more push but only have 4 days on boat and haven't experimented much.
        thanks

I was wondering the same thing. My 230 needs more weight on the Port side surfing on the Port side.

Ha! ha! Yep. I was almost positive that's what you meant. This seems to be a requirement for pretty much all of the late-model boats.

Did you use shot-bags to do this? If so, how many bags total and how are they distributed around the boat?

              Thanks!

                Yesterday on the factory tanks
                100% port
                80% starboard
                50% belly

                10 - 50lb steel Bomb sacs
                3 forward edge starboard locker
4 - Forward edge port locker
                2 port bench wall
                1 under observer seat.

Today, I moved one of the three starboard bags over to the port bench wall
three bags fit in there nicely without hindering cooler placement
at the end of the day I definitely wanted to move my wieght to the port side

Yep. I don't have any extra ballast in my 230 but here's what I'm doing to surf the Port side:

                  - Port tank: Full
                  - Starboard tank: 3/4
                  - Belly tank: Full
                  - NSS: 2 or 3
                  - Hydrogate: 1 or 2 to clean up the lip
                  - Speed: 10.4-10.8. More if there are lots of people on the boat

Have you thought about moving that bag from under the Observer's seat closer to the back and then filling the belly tank?

                    I did. And I might.
Trying a few options this weekend

I forgot to mention I have a 90 pound 2 x 12 JL super sub woofer in the back of the Port locker.
Our regular riders, like a lot of sub near the wake
