    Towing a G with Z5 Rack

For those that have a Z5 cargo rack, what do you do when towing long distances? About to pick up a G21 with the Z5 and have never had one, but figured we would give it a shot.

    You have three choices:

    1) Remove the entire bimini, rack and all and carry it in your truck.

    2) Leave the Z5 rack on the boat and just take the canvas off while towing.

    3) "Boot" the canvas. Basically, the front and back parts of the canvas roll towards the middle and you wrap all of that in the included cover.

Do NOT tow with the bimini fully deployed.

I'd love to see what a Z5 looks like without the canvas from 20' away. I'm picturing a jungle gym.

Mine was shipped from Alabama to Oregon without the canvas on and without the cover on. A little dirty, but no damage at all,

I always trailered mine on my 2012 230 with the FCT-5/Z5. I used the tie-down straps and never had an issue. Of course I always drove like grandma and my top speed was probably only 60. The manual simply states to use the tie-downs and "Do not trailer at speeds excess of the posted speed". Some of the other Z5's have different requirements as Charlesml3 mentioned above. My version didn't say anything about booting as I'm not sure you could.

I've towed a 150 miles or so one way with the Z5. My dealer recommended (and I do it every time) thing down the Bimini so that wind doesn't take it the wrong way. We actually use ropes and tie it to the trailer rather than use the straps. It just gives it a little more stability.

Although, I agree with jshack01, I rarely get over 60 mph.

Locally, ..<50miles I tow with it on and skinned... pretty slow driving locally.
I plan to roll it up for longer high speed trips to the river.
