Does not look like it spent time in salt to me,rust from salt looks like the rust on our midwest cars kinda of flakey. It gets in the pores of the cast iron and keeps leaching out even after a few say 30 ish hours and even when you flush after each use. Check out these brass fittings on the cooling system, these are off a PCM Ford they had around 30 hours on them. If it has a Sherwood raw pump it can be discolored as well

Thanks for the input guys. Made the trip and checked it out but didn't end up getting it. Was in a little worse condition than I thought on the outside. It needed a good cleaning but then after driving you could tell it needed a tune up big time. The throttle was surging forward really bad at first and the boat wouldn't even open up. Definitely not getting the full power of the engine. Could be as simple as the fuel filter but there were too many unknowns at that price. On the positive I stopped and Lambert's cafe on the way back for a consolation prize. Let me know if you hear of any direct drives for sale in the 01 to 08 range.Last edited by dkimball; 05-08-2017, 08:17 AM.

There's a really nice '08 206 at our local dealer. Go to sonwatersports.com and check it out. If you're interested, call Mark Mulrooney, owner of the dealership. Great guy who'll shoot you straight.'08 196LE (previous)

I can't speak for this boat but I know the owner.. My kids and his race BMX and we often see them at the track. I can tell you this... he is. Sry particular about his equipment.. kids bikes and truck and trailer is always in top shape.. in fact he's know for being pretty picky about his stuff.. my guess is the boat has been well taken care of..

I have nothing bad to say about the owner he was a nice guy. It just wasn't in the shape that I thought it was going to be in. I am sure he would admit that it wasn't running correctly and without knowing the exact cause there was no way I could buy the boat. It was only doing about 30 when it was opened up. I am no stranger to the used boat market and I know everyone has there own opinion on what they believe to be "excellent condition". I may be a little biased because I have a 91 nautique that runs better than the one I was looking at.

Yep, still in the market. I like the looks of the 206 that swc5150 referenced. It is a little more expensive than I have been looking at but it may be the way I need to go. I would also be looking at adding some automated ballast and a tower down the road. I do have an extended pylon that I could use until then.

I do a little wakeboarding now and then. Currently I ride behind my 91 and we just get a few people in the back and it works good enough for me. It would just be nice to be able to have enough ballast that would act like a couple of people back there. I am not looking at anything crazy probably 400 pounds in the trunk. My cousin has a moomba with a surf package so I can use that for surfing.

Beginning in 2006 the Hydrogate was available on the 206, that will definitely help shape your "wake" wake, believe all years also had a trick tank available which holds about 200lbs of water, trick tank consumes about half the trunk space but is fillable/drainable from the helm.

Thanks for the input. I have also seen a few 216's out there as well. Just wasn't sure about the handling with jumping up from a 91 that is 19'6" to 21'6" which is why I was looking for a 206. I may see about test driving a 216 since there are some at reasonable prices out there.
