    Flip up trailer tongue.

I believe my trailer has a flip up tongue.

The nut I believe I need to remove appears to be a lock nut - so I didn't want to remove it before checking.

Is it as simple as removing this nut and moving the tongue up?

    Any input is appreciated.

    RE: Flip up trailer tongue.

That does not appear to me to be a flip up tonge. Rather it looks like the tongue bolts into the main frame with at least three bolts I can see. The one you are questioning, and at least two located right behind the winch mounts. Based upon the photos you've shown, I don't see how it would swivel. ICBW. BKH

I don't think he's talking about the tongue swiveling like the Ram-Lins do. I've seen some where it does flip up and go near the bow stopper...

Anyway, if you took out that nut it looks like it would just fall. It looks like your bow stopper would stop it from tilting up.

That looks exactly like mine, except I have a pull-out pin instead of a bolt. Mine flips up when I take the bolt out. In fact, I'd be worried that the real pull-out pin was replaced by a lesser grade bolt. You might want to get the real pull out pin from a dealer.

ScarletArrow -- that tongue looks like mine (Ram-Lin) and assuming it is, removing that bolt should allow the tongue assembly to rotate upwards, assuming you've removed the bow stop assembly. I have to break mine down that way every time I put it in the garage. I kind of doubt it was designed to flip up every time it's stored, but it's the only way I can get mine in the garage (and it's NOT going to sit outside). :mrgreen

Interesting. So how does that work. Jhiestand, yours appears to have two U boals holding the tongue. I assume that those swivel around a round crossbar welded into the trailer??? Correct? ScarlettArrow's does
look like the same type of trailer, but in the photos, I can't see any mechanism for the tongue to swivel around. BKH

SA, that is the same as what my CC trailers used to be. Take out your bow stop post, unhook your turnbuckle from the bow eye, remove the lock nut, pull out the bolt, and flip the tongue up, that is what it was designed to do.

Thats the same for my trailer. One bolt out and flip it up. I use a bungee cord to keep it up in place. -MG

Thanks everyone - I appreciate it!

One last question - do all of you have a pull out pin like M3Fan has?

If the bolt is common I guess I can just stick with that; otherwise I'll just pick up a pin.

                  Thanks again.

Yes, two U-bolts that rotate around a welded piece. I've had to tighten those before, FYI.

Also, if you unbolt on a regular basis like I do be careful not to get nut too tight! I got a little overzealous tightening it once and cross-threaded it. Since the bolt is hardened, it was MURDER getting it back off. Went through about 12 saw-zaw blades cutting that sucker off. It wasn't pretty. Lesson learned and now I only snug up the nut since it's self-locking.

Oh, and be careful pushing the mechanism up since there's nothing to prevent it from smashing into the bow of the boat. I had some foam there for a while, but I'm used to putting up gingerly, now.

The 3 CC trailers that I had all had the bolt through the tongue and a pull pin through the bow post like the pic that jhiestand has.

M3, If you have a pin that is the same dia. as the hole I wouldn't worry too much about it, that pin isn't going to give you any problems. It definitely makes life alot easier if you are having to flip it up each time in and out of your garage!! Just don't forget to put your clip pin in the end of it though!!
