I have always done the truck and my wife the boat. This has worked fine because she has alot more experience driving the boat than backing a trailer. So thats how I voted in the poll.

However, after this past weekend we are considering a change. We have almost always been at a ramp alone but last weekend it was extremely busy and the Texas wind was blowin' so she had a hard time because she got flustered.

Scarlet, you may be right about busy days, but then again every team is different. Generally speaking whoever is the best boat driver would also be the best with handling the trailer as well, so it may just be a decision based on what the weaker driver is best at. In our case I believe my wife has the ability to handle either one but if the truck/trailer duty stresses her out less then we'll be swapping.

When it comes down to which I'd rather have damaged, I'd chose the truck every time

When dumping the boat, I back it down to the water, hop in the boat and my wife backs it in the rest of the way.

When trailering, I back the trailer in and she pulls the boat up on the trailer.

The problem......she still isn't comfortable backing up the trailer. She pulls the boat on the trailer as well as anyone out there. I may coach her a bit if the water conditions are tough...but overall, she does just fine.
