Wonder if the forum can recommend insurance options for their late model G/GS series boats. I'm gonna be receiving a '17 GS20 in a few weeks and my current insurance provider (home, cars, boat) is quoting me $1,112/yr which I'm not sure is competitive to the Marine only options that might be out there. Any feedback in terms of providers, your boat year/model would be greatly appreciated.

Uh.. That's a bit steep. ACE Marine quoted me around $800 for my 17 G23 (coming soon). I also checked a couple of other sites and even got cheaper rates but haven't compared limits yet. I would definitely shop around.

In the Midwest for $50k agreed value I pay 25% of that with Progressive. My boats have always been on their own policies as that typically seems to be where the best rates are, as noted above, shop that around.

Boat U.S.
$818 for a 2016 G23
Declared value, 1% deductible
Great coverage, claim support (had a 12K claim on previous boat, very smooth process) and perks with Boat U.S.

Couple pieces of advice.
1. Always put the boat on a watercraft policy and not on your home policy. Watercraft policies include liability coverage for things like environmental damage and cleanup from fuel and oil that may be released in an accident.
2. If you are not using an independent agent that has access to and will shop multiple carriers for you then do yourself a favor and either find an independent agent that does or at least shop the direct writing insurance carriers to compare. Asking what others are paying may give you an idea of premiums but insurance companies have so many variables in the rates that each person will be different by as much as 50%!
3. If you have a boat older than 10 years, be sure loss payments are not being paid on actual cash value. Some carriers will pay ACV for specific items because they don't want to be on the hook for replacing old components with new components at claim time. A good example is the outdrive on stern drive boats.
4. A lot of carriers will provide an advance quote discount so shop the premiums at least a couple weeks before you will need coverage.
We are buying a 17 G21 and the annual premium for 120k valuation is $680.
For most states the biggest factor for your premium is your insurance score which takes your credit into account.
Hope that helps.

We have a Travelers policy for $130k stated value, 2% deductible and pay $572 annually. I took a screen shot of the variables and premium associated with them.

Thanks to all for the input. Shopped around a bit and definitely better deals out there. Progressive $690, U.S. Boats $700, SkiSafe $390 all with 'apples to apples' coverage/deductible amounts. Anyone had a claim with SkiSafe and have feedback on the experience?

I did have a claim with ski safe. Ski safe and the dealer dealt with everything, I just have to write a letter, drop the boat at the dealership, and pay my deductible when I pick up the boat. Smooth process with no issue, no question asked. However, my premium took 10% increase the following year.
I will shop next year to see if I can lower my premium which is way more expensive than anything listed here so far.

I have had a claim with Gieco and now I'm with skisafe. I have a 2010 210 and had about 8K for all running gear and some fiberglass work. Premium was 7-8 wIth Gieco and 588 with Skisafe.

I got a quote via my regular insurance provider for $142k in boat/trailer coverage, $500k liability, etc. - well over $1,100.
Through BoatUS.com / Geico, I got the same policy for around $600. What is cool with them is that if you call ask for the premium package, it is a no charge add-on that covers engine damage from non-winterization (normally not covered), some electronics damage that would not normally be covered (and may not be applicable), etc. They don't seem to add it in by default, so you need to ask.
