After doing some searching for a boat on craigslist, i found a 95 nautique with cracked block and head. Gt40. Anyone have ideas on where to find one or what would be the best to replace it with? Hes asking 2,500 for the boat. Do you guys feel like this is a fair price. Im looking for a good deal

I'm not sure about a used motor but I know discount inboard marine can set you up with a new. They've got a good many options

I'd probably go find a 351 Windsor short block and then locate a used, but tested-good GT40 head and then move over the heads, accessory drives and injection, etc. That is assuming you are on a budget. I'm speculating that you might be if you are looking at a project in the first place.
If the block and head cracked, I'm guessing it froze. If so, there are other items to inspect that could be broken from the same issue. Heater. Maybe cooling water pump. In line oil cooler / heat exchanger.
In what condition is the rest of it?

In in almost the same situation. I just bought a 97 with a tower, newer ramlin trailer, and seized 351w for $3000 and think it was a great deal. Hull is perfect with no damage other than oxidation needing buffed out. Interior is ok with some rips. I can get a new motor and all new interior for $4500 and with some elbow grease I'll have a boat worth well over $10,000 for $7500.
Best bet I've found is First Mate Marine, reman long block for $1995 to your door. You can upgrade to gt40 heads (I'm reusing mine). Install your intake and all accessories and you're golden. Jegs and summit sell them or you can order direct.Comment
