    Boat lift , cradle

    Hello everyone ,

I have a Sea Ray 210 and currently have a lift with a cradle .

Been thinking about getting. Nautique 196 210 or 216 possible .

Will the the same lift be ok ? Or any suggestions for lift or docking boat .

Usually in my area Pontoons will use a strap across the bottom .

We are on a lake with a dam the water height can vary 4 to 5 feet .

    Thanks
    Robert

Maybe. I looked around a bit and it seems like the 210 and 216 come in right around 4000 pounds with fuel. I think your Sea Ray was more like 3400 pounds. You need to find the local lift installer and get them involved. Take a bunch of photos of your existing lift and take all of those to the installer. They can tell you right away if it'll handle the weight.

Most lift manufacturers recommend bunks for inboards. If your lift is set up the way I think it is, I think you might want to swap that out...

I went from a 18' searay to a 211. My lift is also a 4K lb. Lifts it just fine. Contact your lift manufacturer/installer though.

Like trading a pinto in on a corvette. HUGE difference in performance on the pull. It takes getting used to driving though. Practice driving it a lot before docking or trailering. I used the advice of another and threw a bouy out in a cove and practiced coming up to it. I still find myself trying to steer in neutral (doesn't work). Have never looked back at our decision. Much more fun on the water skiing, surfing or wake boarding. Your going from a pleasure boat to a high performance sport boat. Pull the trigger you will not be disappointed

To be fair, all of that is the difference between driving a stern-drive (thrust direction) vs. an inboard (thrust deflection). All inboards (doesn't matter who makes them) are difficult at slow speed. You just can't get enough water across the rudder.

Well apparently they're coming. From what I can read, the 2018 G23 and G25 will have an optional bow thruster...
