I've driven plenty of bigger inboards, but only one with (bow) thrusters - a 24' wooden boat with a single engine v-drive setup. Of course you can dock it just about anywhere with patience and practice. But it sure was nice to be able to just hit a button and go sideways if that's what you needed to do. If money were no object? I'd probably do it. I used to dock a lot in a river with highly variable current, and not a lot of extra room to maneuver. In the 24' boat it would be quite welcome from time to time.
That said, what do people think of the MasterCraft DockStar system of having two more rudders to assist with low-speed maneuvers? Have you all seen that? Anyone experienced it first hand? http://www.mastercraft.com/dockstar It's the same idea but achieved with only rudders.
