    Best lift for G23

New to the forum so be gentle. I am in the process of shopping for a G23. I have yet to determine if I am going to buy used or new. But I have to solve one issue before I can start pursuing the boat. I have an older hydrohoist boat lift that is rated for 4500 pounds. It lifts my 2003 Mastercraft X2 fully loaded (probably 3K in ballest) out of the water but barely. I was working with my local Hydrohoist dealer on adding other pontoons to get the rating up to 7500 but he is a bit flakey. So now I am starting to research other options for lifts. After my dealings with Hydrohoist I would probably want to avoid them if possible. Painful to have to buy a new lift and the new boat but I guess that is the way it goes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks, Mike

I have a HydroHoist UL2 8800-lb for our 2010 230. Our lake can get rough with wind induced waves and I wouldn't want a smaller lift, especially for a G23. I know you've had issues with your dealer but I love this lift. I bought the lift used and had to disassemble it to move it to my lake. It's a good way to go if you can find them.

I would love to use the lift I currently have but I need to find the extra pontoons but they are discontinued. If anyone has a lead on extra pontoons for the middle that would be huge. Thanks, Mike

        +1 for hydrohoist. Buddy has a 6500# holding a G and it's sturdy.

I have a Sunstream Floatlift FL10014. I got the extra capacity in case I wanted to upgrade boats. It is fantastic and what I love best about this lift is I can walk around the hull to wipe down the boat after each use or wash/wax it without taking the boat out of the water.

I have an 8000 lb Floe VSD. Love it. I bought the vertical guide ins but might go with horizontal if I could do it all over again. Two batteries and a solar panel so it moves pretty quickly. The leveling legs are cool but I have to bury it to the bottom so don't really get to level it very well.

Only downside is that it is a TANK. Cant imagine putting it in and taking it out myself.

I have a sunstream for my g21 with the ABC cover (8000lbs). The cover is what makes the lift. Up and down less than 5 min. So convenient! And keeps the boat clean. Below is a pic of mine with cover on and a link to the ABC (automatic boat cover) demo.

We use Bottoms Up and Ozark lifts. Both work well. The G is on the Bottoms Up, but I need to upgrade it, the current 6000 lb capacity only gets the top of the floats about 5" out of the water.

That automatic boat cover is awesome. My boat is under a boat house and it wouldn't fit otherwise I would be all over something like that. Really cool stuff out there.

Boat Floater lifts are awesome. The classic model comes forward about 18" as it come up which puts the boat completely under roof (in most situations).

I bought a 2017 G23 and a 2017 Floe 8000VSD w/ canopy. Boat is great, hoist is yet to be determined. I'm about 85% satisfied. I cover the boat each night with factory cover. The last place I find myself is on the swim platform. The Floe doesn't offer a rear attachment reach step or something to extend to bridge the gap between dock and G platform. I currently climb over, on top of the cover, slide down the side of the boat, holding onto the tower (for dear life). Again, I'm new, this is just where I'm at. Secondly, I like to wipe down my entire G hull after each use. I haven't been able too because the freeboard is too tall #1, and unlike my old shore station, I don't have a long carpeted wooden guide the length of the boat to walk along as I wipe #2.
The hoist speed is fine, the build appears fine, the canopy is the best in class in my opinion, it's quiet etc....but not perfect!

The only thing that scares me about the floating lifts...and I may be way off in my thinking as I've never had any experience with them....is could a wave/wake from another boat actually cause the boat to go up and down in elevation? If so, keeping a boat on such a lift under a covered dock could be dangerous, especially if say a G23 came by surfing! It would put the boat through the roof! Or are there stops built in to keep it from going so high? Not being a smart ***, I'm really just asking as I will one day soon be building a dock and will be exploring all lift options. I do really like the FLOE VSD design though.

Agree 100% with this assessment. With the cover on, it is difficult to move around but I only cover mine when I am going to be away for an extended time or the conditions are bad (bug hatch, pollen, etc). Also, I just assumed that it would be like this all the time. I would love ladder steps on the outside of the post nearest the dock. That would be cool.

Anyone have updated lift and canopy dimensions and feedback for 2018 G23 storage with Tower UP? I believe that the tower is about 6 inches higher than 2017. I’m trying to understand all the dimensions in order to purchase a lift and canopy to store a 2018 G23 Tower up. How tall is it to the top of the tower when the boat is in the water?
thanks For any and all feedback. Todd
