    2003 air nautique 206

New here, finally looking to get back into watersports.

After years of mulling the purchase of my first Nautique, I'm finally in (didn't just want to get a bayliner or something). Grew up skiing and barefooting behind a nautique and really all I wanted to bother getting.

    Looking at a 2003 air nautique 206.

Want something to slalom, surf, and wakeboard behind so know I'm losing a bit on each since I want it for all (+3 kids 10 and under).

Found the blue colored one with 350 hours for 30k. Price seems a little high to me but it's in FANTASTIC shape, low hours, and maintained well.

Anything I should know? Any known issues with this boat? Think price is right? Not a lot of used Nautiques around me so slim pickings and I'm ready! Been reading here for a while and thought I'd throw this out there.

Any thoughts appreciated. To buy or not to buy...

If your primary focus is skiing, this is it. Otherwise I'd find a good V-drive (211 anyone?). If you consistently have 5+ onboard it will be tight. Outside of that, the 206 is a great boat.

I love my 2003 206. Doesn't have what the current models have in regards to storage, ballast and surf setup. However, a fantastic family boat that does everything well. We have 5-6, sometimes 7 on board. No major issues with seating. We all had closed bow Nautiques before this one, so the open bow seating is a pleasure.

Thanks! I want to be able to do use it for skiing, but boarding and surfing so know I'll have to compromise a bit. Also need it as a bit of a family boat.

Seems like it's in great condition so I'm thinking it's the right boat for my budget. Price seems a little high but not many options around IL

I have a 2007 206 and have not been able to surf. If surfing is a definite, you might want to move to a V-drive.

            Thanks for the info!

Besides doing comparisons online, anyone know of where to get good blue market values on this 03? Need them for taxes and insurance. Nada seems wrong but maybe not.

You can look on only inboards. I think he runs some analysis of used sales. NaDA is basically useless.

I recently purchased a 2006 206 that I have been using over the past week with my wife and 2 girls (13 and 8). The skiing is fantastic. I have the wake-shaper thing and, at least for me, it throws a very adequate wake for boarding without using any ballast at all. I have a small amount of factory ballast and some additional bags that I have yet to play with but the PO of my boat said his kids surfed behind it without any trouble (which I don't doubt). Two adults and 3 kids will fit just fine.

Price seems a tad high but 1) condition, hours, maintenance are valuable 2) skiers like the 196/2016/216 and they are way less expensive than the newer ski boats so there is demand 3) this is prime season for selling any boat.

Agree, however, that a V-drive is a better choice if you prefer anything to skiing.

I have a 2007 Team 206 and the skiing is great. As mentioned, not sure about wireless surfing as all I have managed is wired so far as I haven't been motivated enough to play with fat sacs, and there is usually just the 3 of us on board.
