    Plug for Nauticurl on 210

I have a 2012 SAN 210 that purchased new. I love this boat for its functionality in allowing me to slalom (yes I said slalom) and surf. When it comes to surfing, I have extra ballast (fat sacs) plumbed into each rear locker and a bow sac plumbed into the belly ballast. It takes me 2 cycles to fill all tanks and extra ballast.

For port surfing (all we do):
    Port factory full
    Port sac in locker full
    belly full
    bow sac (under seats) full
750 sac in port corner if only 2 people in the boat.

The above set up is a nice wake that allows me to surf al the way to the end of the rope without a problem. I'm 6' 185lb and surf a skim style board for reference. I was strongly considering the GS20 because I found the surf wake to be a little better than my sac'd out 210 and my wife hates sitting in a listed boat. This past weekend I decided to try the nauticurl wake shaper. Wow!

    With nauticurl
    Port factory full
    port locker sac full
    starboard factory full
    starboard locker sac full
    belly full
    bow sac full
Wave was too steep when we started so I drained the locker sacs to 1/3 full and the wave was better than my listed setup with a boat full of people. I was running at 10.9mph and 3300 rpm. I want to do my old set up to compare RPM but my wife loved the fact the boat wasn't listed.

Sorry I don't have any pics but I will try to get some this weekend. I am a firm believer in the nauticurl for a 210. My neighbor tried it on his Malibu ride and didn't get very good results. I wasn't in the boat so I'm not sure how much weight he was adding.

Yea. These surf gates or "suc gates" have really opened up a practical way to get these older boats to surf. Listing them way over worked, but it took a massive amount of ballast and the handling of the boat was just horrible. With that rudder leaned over at 30 degrees or so it just wouldn't let the boat turn against the list.

The trick is to experiment a lot of with the weight, speed and position of the gate. I've seen people get too much weight and/or have the gate positioned too low on the boat. This will cause a lot of water to wash over top of the gate and wash out the wake.

I got a 2010 210 an pretty much just surf the port side as well, same set up 750 on top of the factory tank and a 400 on the port side seats, belly full, and maybe a 200 in the front or on the center floor. I got the cheaper version of a gate - http://agendasurf.com/tsunami-full-m...-enhancer.html it's 3d printed. Haven't tried it yet, but used it on my buddies SV230 and made wave longer and cleaner.

I'll report back next 2 weeks with images.

I've got an OG SAN, 2001. My setup is: 400 in the ski locker, 400 lb bags on top of the rear factory hard tanks. 250 lbs of lead under the passenger side seats. Then 300lb bag in the boat which we drag to the surf side either on top of the seats or behind the driver floor. We use mission delta, but I'm sure any SUC gate will work well.

Note, biggest difference is riding in 20'+ of water. It add probably an honest 6" to 12" of wave size. We can ride about 10 to 15' behind the boat in deeper water where in 6' we are limited almost to right up agains the platform.
We run at 10.4 mph via GPS Hydrophase speed controller.

2007 210 SANTE here... I plumbed in 440s in the rear lockers, but couldn't plumb in a center on top of the hard tank due to the size. So I run an under the seat now sac (500) that I can fill about 2/3.

I made my own 30-ish degree suck gate and it's awesome. Long and steep and I can ride it about 10-15 behind and still get back up. Oh, I'm 6' and 265 too.

This was yesterday on my Phase 5 5'4" Kong.

I can't for the life of me figure out how and why people are paying hundreds of dollars for these wake shapers. I've made about 8 of them for about $30 each and can have it done in about 20 min.

First one took me 2 to 3 hours of research and purchasing, 2 hours to build, $100 in tools and materials, and it looks like crap.

I had fun making it and it works great but will probably need to build a second one.

If I was worried about the cost, it would've saved me money to buy one vs build one. Sure, after making a few, I am sure it gets much easier and cheaper but not everyone has the time or inclination to get to that point.

I'm typically all about saving money but this $200 was well worth the investment of my time and to ensure it was built correctly. The Nauticurl is a well made product and I'm sure a **** of a lot better than I could have made with $30 in parts.

I used a hacksaw, cordless drill, drill bits, tape measure, straight edge, and sharpie. If you don't already own a cordless, that would be expensive. I, however, can't live without a cordless.

The first one probably took 1.5 hours. Still can't justify buying one of these devices. But hey, they can make a 20k boat surf!!!
