Looks like such fun!
I surf in the ocean without a life jacket. And am a competitive swimmer and was a college water polo player. (IE... Decent swimmer)
Wife had an 18 y/o professional wakeboarder neighbor die about 20 years ago. Not sure how exactly. But he was knocked out and sank within a few hundred yards or less of friends without a jacket. A spotter was on board.
After that I've never done any boat sports without a life jacket. And don't allow it.
Don't want to be Debbie Downer. Just hope to avoid further pointless loss of life.
That said I'm not judgmental either.

13 SAN 230. Stock rear hard tanks removed and 910# bags added. 650# bow bag piggybacked in front. NSS at 0. Offset weight by couple hundred pounds. Best wave with about 3 people in boat.
