    2004 sante 210 and 8 yr old

My son likes to ride around 17-18 mph. With just me and my wife (no ballast), the wake is clean but pretty big. Any tips on mellowing it out at those speeds or is that the nature of this hull? My son is psyched out after a few bad falls.

When we spoke I mentioned filling the center tank, let him try that, though it may make the wake to big for him even if it mellows out the ramp.

I also mentioned 120 lbs of lead under the bow seat, you could try having your wife sit in the very bow seat, facing backwards, to see if that helps. An easy way to see if lead under the bow would be worth it for you. You could try this with and without the center tank full. Everyone has a different preference in the wake shape, even if they don't know it yet.

The other thing I might suggest is having him work up to big jumps, start small and get use to it, use to both taking off and landing. It's a lot less painful, don't ask how i know......

I don't have a 210 so I can't comment on how to mellow the wave. I'm not sure what tricks he is trying but what has worked for my girls ages 5 and up over the years is to not let them approach the wake for simple wake jumps from too far out in the flats. I will tell them to not go out to far and I will use hand signals to stop them. This allows them to charge the wake from a very short distance. This will force them to cut up the wake and create proper form. For beginning 180's I go ridiculously slow. 12-13. The wake is no good at that speed and they will sometimes burry the board in the wake but they will get some pop mostly. They can catch a front or back edge all day long learning tricks and will not spook them too bad. Once tricks have been done time after time again at this speed you can speed up. If they have a big fall then they already have confidence with the trick. This technique has worked will with my three girls and they all charged the wake on a G23. Hope it helps.
