Did a test drive of a 24 MXZ w a buddy who is looking for a new boat. Its a nice boat... fit and finish isn't the same as a Nautique. Didn't drive as well, look as nice or feel as classy. Surf wave felt stronger than other Malibu/Axis boats that I have ridden. More push for sure, felt more like a nautique in that realm. The only two things I found nicer than my G23 were
    1) the back of the wave wasn't so strong that it pushed my feet off the board (I haven't spent enough time trying to get rid of that on my G)
    2) The electric captains chair was pretty dope

Anyway, that was the 24 foot version and they say it surfs better than the 22.

Did Nautique stop production why would anybody bother with a supposed just as good boat?

Perhaps because it's a lot less money. I could have had a 22MXZ for 115 loaded. 149 for a G23 equipped about the same.

Buy a used Nautique. You will loose your a$$ on the new mxz vs a used Nautique. It will cost you much more on the back end any way you slice it. Nautique is the cheapest boat to own if you look at the total ownership cost vs initial purchase price, i.e. you loose less on the resale.

I think you should buy new so there are more used boats on the market later.

Lots of former Malibu owners, including myself, on here and I bet not one of them would go back to Malibu. That says a lot for the product.

I've ridden the 2017 22 MXZ a lot and from a pure wake perspective, it's my favorite to ride. So clean and consistent, tons of pop that is very controllable.
Pro level wake, but easily scales down to slower speeds and anything in-between.
From an interior and driveability perspective, it's nice, but I definitely prefer the G
You do have to be extra careful with taking water over the bow of the MXZ as it sits pretty low

Think about that statement for a second. If you're paying $115k for a dang water toy, is money an issue?

I tend to agree and I think (at least from what I've heard) that Malibu's quality has gone down since I had my 2007 Wakesetter.

I know it wouldnt make up the difference, but the mxz is a foot shorter also not a great comparison. I know it is the boat the OP mentioned, but you are comparing a 22 to 23 foot boat.

FEVB ... If you are seriously considering that boat, you might want to check this out. It's got a porpoise issue.... http://www.themalibucrew.com/index.p...-ideas/&page=1
