G23 Tower-down towing

Bringing boat in for 25-hour service tomorrow. Five hours round trip. Want to tow with the cover off and tower down. What are you people doing to support/secure the tower when you're hauling down the road at 70 mph? Any and all advice appreciated. TIA.

Personally, I would not tow with the tower down and no cover. I love my tower-down cover, and use it every time I tow.

There are the tower supports that are in place when the boat is shipped that can be used if you still have them. They fit in the base of the tower once the tower is folded forward.

Ive had my boat for a few months, I tow to the lake and back 50 mile each way, 1-2 days a week.
I leave tower up.... a couple Bugs on , but thats it...
I don't drive over 60 though

Wrap some plastic wrap around the tower speakers and leave it up, would be my advice.

They are black and have a pin for locking the tower lock around. I will get a picture tomorrow for you.

The dealers usually discard them during boat prep, but your dealer might have some extras around if you ask them.

The tower supports brackets are used when they are shipped from the factory to the dealer. The factory only provides one for each boat and we (the dealer) never keep them.

The problem with tower down towing without the correct braces is that although the tower will lock in the down position.... there is about 1-2" of travel wiggle left in the joint without those shipping braces to stop the tower movement.

without them.... the tower would shake and slam against its interior stops violently .

The tower down cover puts weight on it to stop that movement.

another option for towing without those braces or a tower down cover is a ratchet strap from the highest point on the tower to the bow lift point.... cranked down wicked tight to limit the wiggle movement.

Contact NautiqueParts. They can order one from the factory for you.

Alternately you can order one from Sewlong covers in Utah. I have one of theirs too and they are great.

Will the tower supports from a '17 work on a '16? Anyone (someone that has not yet taken delivery of a '17 G) willing to try help me get a pair? Thanks.

I tow up to 70mph with the tower up. Dealer assured me and reassured me this is OK and not a problem. If you guys see this as adverse, please be gentle.

This is not off the shelf, but I've really enjoyed not cleaning bugs out of lights/speakers/rack after a long tow to the lake. This is a one piece cover and is not inexpensive to have made, but it's excellent.
