I am looking at getting a G23 and found a couple of new 2016's. What (if any) are the things I would miss out on by going with the 2016 instead of 2017 model? Any help much appreciated.

Depends what you want, surf- and wakeboardwake should be not too different. The 2017 should get less spray over the bow. That is nice, but.. you won't die without it. Same with the other features like new link with wider screen, better stereo, new captain seat, new engine.. nice to have, but won't change the wake ;-). And if you like me, then the wake is more important then a bunch of LEDs ;-). But i admit, the new engine, link and captain chair looks nice and maybe thats important for selling it in the future.
At the end, what is important for you? What is the price difference from a 2016 to a 2017?

Actually KTM525...the '16's have the less bow spray design. So you wouldn't miss out on that. Stereo is the same in the 16-17 also except I think in 17 they do offer a 12" sub instead of just 10" subs when you upgrade to the M Series Studio Elite package. The engine, hull shape, captains chair and all else are the same in both models. Haha, the only things different are the new linc wider screen with optional rear camera view, the optional Roswell racks that are available on the '17 (although you can retrofit these to a '16 as well), and some new gel color options. The '18 model years are supposed to have a new head unit for the stereo which would almost be worth waiting for. The current polk unit (used in both '16 and '17) does not interface well with the Linc system. I'm currently waiting for a dealer visit to update my linc to hopefully fix this issue. The '17's did get a little different tower design which in all honesty is mostly just a cosmetic change, so that would just be a preference in style....oh, and the "surf" graphics if you like that sort of thing.

The '18's are being ordered by dealers and will be officially available shortly. Perhaps better deals on the '17's once the'18's are publicly announced.
Differences between 16 and 17:
Awareness camera
Surf pockets on bimini
Overmolded board racks
Upgraded LINC
Redesigned dash
Slight change to tower
12" subs
Down lit tower speakers (JL 8.8)
Additional USB ports
Color options
The hull and running gear, and just about everything else, are identical.
Beg4wake is right on with the stereo comments. However, Nautique has stated that the '16 will eventually be able to upgrade to the '18 JL head unit and associated software. So if you like the '16 and can save some cash, there are some stereo upgrade options coming, hopefully.Last edited by blueroom; 06-29-2017, 12:39 PM.

Direct to me from Nautique Support, in writing.....
"The 2018 stereo will be backwards compatible for the 2016's, but it will not be available until the release of the 2018 model year, then the software will have to be written for the 2017 models, after that the 2016 software will be written. Once that is done we will make the stereo equipment and software availability for purchase."
I guess they could change their mind, run into technical issues, etc. But seems promising.
