The rub rail screws on my 2015 G21 stick out and scratch things up. I have gone around the boat and made sure all the rub rail screws are tight, but they still stick out. The problem is that these Phillips head screws tear up the foam bumpers on our dock and they tear up the vertical guide posts on my shorestation lift. These are replaceable items, but I am wondering if anyone has solved this problem, possibly with a different style of stainless screw?

the problem is they put them in sideways and not 90 degree to the boat. i have fought this on both my G's. When the screw is perfect 90 degree to boat, the countersink is perfect and nothing catches. When it is at slight angle, when the screw gets tight, the head is not countersunk and has an edge.... sucks.
I removed them all on one side of my 15 g21 and took material off the heads and reinstalled. It took a long time.2016 G23

I am thinking of replacing the screws. Stainless, Torx or Allen, flathead with the same countersink would do it. I would want the same thread and use some kind of Locktite. Seems like an internet project to find right screw. I will take a picture tomorrow of the damage the screws are doing to the vertical guides on my lift. The guides are covered in PVC, so I can obviously replace the tubes but it looks bad as it is now. And instead of the rub rail being smooth it catches on every screw. You wouldn't want to rub your palm hard along the rub rail as it is. The screw edges and domed Phillips opening would honestly hurt. Anyway, it is on the list of things to deal with and there aren't many so far. This is my first summer with the boat.
