How do I leave the bilge pump on?

Boat is not on a lift and in the water overnight.
If I turn the batteries off then back to 1, and do not type in my passcode, I do not see any dash lights, will the bilge pump work?

Otherwise, what is the proper way to allow the bilge to work without having everything lit up?

Just powering down the system using your passcode works. You should see a blue flashing light on the bilge pump button when it's auto sensing.

Do you need to have the bilge button pressed in, or does it not matter?

There is definitely a lot left to be desired when it comes to the description of the functionality of the bilge systems in Nautiques.

It used to be so simple. Toggle switch to bilge...

It is a good case of one error leading to another.

The bilge pumps that they have chosen have a sensor that makes them come on if they sense water in the bilge. This requires power. I am not quite sure what was wrong with an old style bilge pump that uses a float.

Because it uses power, then it could conceivably drain a battery over time, although the draw is very small. I do not know how long it would take to kill a battery.

A float type bilge pump uses no power unless it comes on, so it can be wired directly to the battery. The sensing bilge pump is connected with the rest of the electrical system and when you turn off the batteries, you just turned off the boat's lifeline. I think it is a very flawed system, and have roamed these boards for years, and have seen boats that likely sunk due to the bilge pump not being available because the conscientious owner turned off his batteries when he left the boat in the water.

So let me get this straight.
                Turn selector to 1 battery
                Type in passcode
                Dash controls turn off
                Bilge stays on.

                I tried this:
Turned batteries off then on. No passcode
Pushed the bilge button and it went solid for a couple seconds then started to flash blue

There's no reason to cycle batteries or push the bilge button. As long as the battery switch at position 1 or 2, the pumps are active when the blue light it blinking. I don't disagree that pumps with a float and wired direct is a better system. Here's a good resource:

I have to agree that this system is hard to read what's really going on. I get a fast blink every-now and then which mean the system is clogged or has a fault. I hold down the button as instructed and nothing happens. Then after I cycle the batteries it will go back to operating properly.

Also it killed my battery in about 5 days.

When I leave the boat in the water, I just leave the switch on, so that way my bilge will work. I also keep a jumper box with me at all times, and so far have not had to use it on myself. Guys who live with their boat on the water have a real challenge unless you can install an onboard charger and have power down to the dock, which would be the best solution I can imagine. For this reason, I would never leave a G boat as is currently configured in the water for more than a couple of days unattended.

I noticed my blue light was blinking faster than I recall on my weeklong trip to Lake Powell...stoopid me didn't think it might be trying to tell me something. I will report back. I guess it is nice to know when the bilge pump has failed. The only time I forgot the plug was when both of the bilge pumps on my Mastercraft were not working, and then I walked away for 20 minutes with the boat tied to the dock. Luckily for me, it wasn't longer. You would think then I would check my bilge pumps once in a while to make sure they are working.

Yep, if I had to leave in the water often, I would replace one or both of the pumps for one with a float...Would be easy to do as it sits right there in the middle and you could wire right to the battery, as that is also right there in a g.

I have the occasional fast fault indicating light. And like post a couple up holding the stop button to reset did not seem to reset. I also had to cycle the battery switch. I replaced both pumps. It will be interesting to see if it helps.

Tonight I crawled around in the bilge and they both seem to be working, and my light blinks about 3 times every 2 seconds, so it isn't super fast, but it is faster than I recall. Owner's manual says nothing of any of this.

I also noted that when I push the button to hopefully manually turn the bilge pumps on, they come on for less than a second, and then shut off. Is that normal?

yeah, that is normal...if you wait for 2 or 3 minutes they should come on again for a second or so....

you see the one right there in the middle? it would be easy to replace that one if a person wanted to...
