Hi, im currently importing a 2001 to Australia and am looking at making some fibreglass ballast tanks for it. The only problem is i dont have the boat yet and need some measurements so i can have the tanks ready for when the boat arrives. I am looking at making some for each side of the engine hatch(im going to wait untill the boat arrives to make a rear tank) and need to know what is the width from the side of the engine hatch to the hull and also the length from the back of the drivers seat to the front of the backseat base. any help would be great, thanks.

RE: Ballast tanks for a 88 2001
I would consider waiting until you have the boat. There is taper both in height and width that you'll have to deal with on the sides of the engine. You also may change your mind on the configuration of your set up. I would also consider just doing the sides to have access to the engine. You could get 1200 + lbs there alone.
If you're set on doing it ahead of time, the distance from the driver's seat (all the way back) to the rear seat cushion is 65 in. The most narrow distance fron the engine cover (back corner) to the hull is 15.75 in. Again, there is a good deal of taper and if you made a perfectly rectangular box, say 65 x 15.5 X 15.5, it would not fit. BTW the measurements are off an 89 which I'm pretty sure are the same.
