So with new additions to the line up, which boat is the best surf boat in the line up? I'm guessing the G23 but wasn't sure if that all marketing.

The 230 will create a much longer wave, but it won't be as big as the G23 unless you really slam a lot of extra ballast in the boat. The GS boats are trying to do it all. Wakeboard, Wakesurf, and Slalom. We really don't have a lot of good information back on them for surfing right now. There's some, but it seems like people are just now starting to experiment with adding ballast.

After owning 4 Nautiques and surfing all of them 226,220,230,G23 and surfing most other brands. I have friends w MBs, Centurions, and Malibus. I have come to the conclusion that "best is a matter of a opinion. We are never going to agree on whats "best" and it would be like suggesting that my shoes are more comfortable and make me run faster than yours. My wife misses the mellow smooth wave on our 230 (and it was slammed) but the G to me is AWESOME! Longer, taller and way more push!
As for other brands....Two of my friends have MBs and they make a nice wave that's a lot of fun. Another has whats supposed to be the machine of surfing the Centurion FS244 and I hate it. Wave is beautiful to look at but push after about 10 ft off of boat is weak to me but they love it..
Opinions are like..... Well you know the rest of the story...

Surf wave preference is super subjective - go ride the boats you are interested in and be sure do some experimenting. Our own experiences differ. We rode every boat from every manufacturer we could, and the G23 was the clear winner in our own tests and demos, and very much worth the price difference. I honestly went into our experience a little biased against the G, and there was no question when we were done. We can make the wave as big or as long as we want and have not regretted our decision one bit.
Side note: When we take people surfing that are used to other boats, we always have to tell them to let rope out and ride farther back than they normally do to hit the sweet spot. We have a ton of push further back from the face of the big wave. Pic from a few days ago was with all stock settings and ballast - only a driver and observer in the boat. Weight it down and you can go huge.

That x factor I hav been chasing on LBC, is what I believe to be in part the rivers creating current. Depending on how much is coming in and going out is my guess. Our speed can vary 1.5 mph depending on direction.
Waiting for the 18's to come in so I can demo, 230, G23. and the GS 24 are on my list. Staying with my local dealer is important so not really looking at much else.
For the op, for a lower end "choke" price point the 238 is ok, but make sure you demo everything before you buy, you will regret it if you dont.

For a decision too, think about how much of a DIY-er you are.....meaning if you want something bone stock that you really have to change very little (if any) on from the factory a G may be your best....however, noticed most people (including myself) a stock 230 is ok but to really get a good wave you need to add additional bags (meaning larger 750s in the rear and possibly some lead or sac in the bow) for it to have a REALLY nice wave. But a 230 is significantly less $....so just depends on what your wanting to put into it......my $0.02
