RE: Re: RE: Gassing Up...
Seems to me that a recovery tank mounted in-line with the vent line would solve (some) the problem. Tank would catch any fuel that worked its way up the vent hose before it exited the boat. The tank could have a one-way valve on a drain line back to the tank.

RE: Re: RE: Gassing Up...
I see the problem being the plastic fuel tanks. When fueling, the plastic has some flexing, and when the fuel fills the vent hose and the fill hose, the flexing causes the tank to "burp" some air pushing the fuel in the vent hose and the fill hose up and out onto who ever and what ever is just outside it.
I too open both tanks to fill, but not always. Most of the time I just listen to it filling while watching the fuel guage, and when I can hear the fuel, it is time to stop and fill really slowly.
I to think that there should be some engineering done to allow it to stop just like in an automobile. I am surprised that the EPA has not required this yet.

Again, I have one (unused) if anyone wants it at a discount. I was unable to use it, because I thought it impossible to mount in a verticle position on my '93 SN and not create a low spot in the vent line. The space above the tank is minimal where the vent line exits the tank.

It does nothing to prevent the overflow problem. Good luck

To unscrew the other fill point or not
On my 2004 SAN I will put the nozzle in and go slow -- then I would go over to the other side and take off the other cap hoping it would vent enough to not over flow. At times it can be bad, either out of the vent or the main fill hole - regardless it back up and splashes everywhere. The last three fills I have not unscrewed the other fill point and so far it works --- better -- anyone else with similar responses?
