My brother is looking at buying a new boat. So I naturally suggest he look at Nautiques but then got to shopping with him and got introduced to the Ri237. I have not riden behind a G23 or a Ri237. They both Correct Craft boats I understand and both seem to be high quality. Anyone have experience with both and want to share thoughts? My brother is big on just wanting to surf and occasionally wakeboard. Centurions Ram Fill ballast and cats fin seems pretty cool. I like look of Nautiques surf plate design better though, not sure if one works any better than the other.

Before buying our G we lake tested a RI with a local dealer. I think Centurion needs a couple more years of Correct Craft behind them. Beautiful boats but lacked engineering in my opinion. Wave was good but when surfing they are listed and bow is higher. Fit and finish of interior was meh. No hinges on seat bottoms and was cheap feeling inside. Little to no storage under seats because of ballast. It's the small details that made them feel cheap like the glove box door being a thin piece of acrylic plastic instead of a heavy vacuum molded glass door like a Nautique has. After emptying to head back to dock the surf system didn't turn off and a tab deployed at 20 mph or so and boat laid on its side at speed. That was deciding factor for my wife. Ballast fills really fast and I think some time tinkering with surf wave it would be really good maybe even better for me. Gel work and glass is way better than Nautique for sure but overall fit wasn't close.

Have him wait and check out the new Fi23 from Centurion. This is a new release and seems to have a bit more Correct Craft in it compared to the Fine Line boats. There are a couple nice release videos done on it. It looks to be more of a crossover boat to compete with the GS series. I hate to admit it, but I dont know if anyone puts together better gel and fiberglass work than Centurion. When we had our G23 is you looked down the side of the boat (front to back) there were quite a few ripples, I just don't see this on Centurions. I do think that Nautique has a much better interior fit and finish though. Tough choices between two quality manufacturers. Which dealer has a better reputation? A bad dealer can make a great boat appear bad to a buyer. A quality dealer is important.

I did the same comparison. I have owned 12 boats, my last two have been G23s. I am only interested in surfing now. The Ri237 has a very nice wake. It is deeper but not as long as my G wake. The Ri237 does ride bow high and that is likely why the wake is tall and deep vs. long on the G. But the interior design, layout and dash setup on the Ri237 just can't compare to the G. I sure wish Nautique would have added another 1,000 lbs of fast fill ballast so I could do away with my lead bags. But I can tune my wake, I can't change the interior so my money is going on another 2018 G23.
