Until you see the price of it, how can that possibly cost 10 Grand to add on a boat? Cool idea with an outrageous price tag.
Is it integrated into the steering or a separate control?

I have surf pockets sewn into my bimini. It's a bit of a stretch to get boards in and out of those pockets (especially the middle pocket) and I'm 6' 1". Adding 6" to the tower is going to put the surf pockets out of reach for many. Really will put it out of reach for my kids who I like to be self sufficient on the boat.

Added high to the tower means:
        • Problems on boathouse, garage, bridges
        • Problems on actively using surf pockets
        • Problems on folding bimini
        • Problems on covering the tower

But I'm honest, I like more freedom over my head. Looking forward to pictures and hope it still looks good.

I hope Nautique comes out with an option of low or high tower, or is open to use the '17 tower on custom orders. I was looking forward to change to the '18 model but with the added height on the tower, this means no change for me.

One more item to add to the list, for those that try to keep away from the sun as much as possible, shade from the bimini is also a factor. As the tower is raised, the shade from the bimini is reduced. So to keep the shade about the same, a tower mounted (above the tower) bimini would need to be replaced for the Z5 bimini, which would offset the clearance and extra height on the tower. For those that have and keep the Z5, shade would be lost.

On a positive note, good to see the new features for 2018 and thank you for posting them.

Brand new designed equipment, they plan for a lot of warranty issue and thus ask you to pay 5 times the price so they have margin to replace the equipment many time over the next 5 years

Regarding tower height....I can't speak to the height of the old and new G boat towers but for me there is no negative to going higher.
The 210/230 towers are a good height and I would be happy if they were a little bit taller.
Regarding the GS 20/22, the tower is too low for me which would prevent me from buying one.
Plenty of tall people in my family and with my friends, the higher the better, it just eliminates problems.

Yeah....I hear everyone on taller might not be so bad....But I look at it like this. You only need SO much tower to hold a rope above the water or provide for a good shade mount. If it goes too tall, it takes away the sleek cool look of the G or 210 as it sits. From what I've seen, Nautique seems to put a cool looking functional tower on one year...then the next it is ugly, straight up and too tall. Then the next year, back to badass looking tower....two year later...back to crappy looking lines and TOO tall of a tower. This is just my opinion and not knocking anyone's ugly tower.....LOL

So are the new racks polymer? I have a 17 with the strapless racks; I assume the 18's retrofit to my tower if so desired?

                        Jeff,

Any word on when/if the new JL head unit will be able to be retrofitted to the older G models? I REALLY LOVE my boat and don't want to trade up, but that is one feature I would love to have as my Polk unit constantly has trouble integrating with the LINC system (and yes I have the latest update). I also wouldn't mind getting some colored cup holder LED's to replace my white ones! Are the new cup holder LEDs single color? Or RGB? I would love to be able to get these upgrades done at the dealer and be able to maintain the warranty! May even look into the Roswell racks now that they aren't silver!

I am sure the JL head unit is able to be retrofitted, but the question is whether it will be done as a warranty replacement for those having issues. I do not know about that. I believe the new cup holder lights are RGB.

Yeah I just had the latest update done to my LINC system that was supposed to "FIX" the issues. While it is better, it's still not 100%. Still has some major bugs. Warranty coverage would be fantastic but I highly doubt it. At this point I would be happy to pay for the head unit and just have the labor covered under warranty. And I would also pay extra to have the RGB cupholders installed or even just a single color option (which I could install myself)!

-Cup holder lights are RGB. Also, behind the driver's seat the "Nautique badging" is lit (photo w/ purple LEDs). I assume the badging in the interior of the transom walkthrough will also be LED lit.

-Multiple BlueTooth Connection? Is this already an option(not yet a SAN owner)? Notice in the LINC Pano display you can see two separate gopro images. Can we hook up phone for audio (BT), NSS, and multiple gopros all linked up and functioning at once?

-New Gel Coat Colors - The left Image, Silver, is possibly the new "Medallion," and it's hard to tell, but it looks like there may be a slight redish tint to it? Maybe that's just what they're calling the new grey metal flake. I believe the center image, Orange, is probably the new "Solar Red."

-New Tower - I like the extra head room. I constantly bonk the noggin on speakers. Not a big fan of the fin above the color break, but the new rack looks great.

No mention at all around whatever is going to replace the Pebble Watch. I wonder if the current Pebble will work with the 2018s at all?
