Thinking of Buying 1997 Sport Nautique

Looks like this 97 Sport is ready for a refresh! How would you go about fixing the holes on a tower removal? I would put a flight control back on and keep it original.

Yeah, I have seen that boat around town here at a few places. I think it has been for sale for quite some time. The tower holes would be easy enough to fix. Probably just fill the holes with gelcoat and sand and buff the area. The bigger expense on that boat would be fixing that interior. It doesn't look like anything is original except possibly the observer's seat, and those blue seats will be super hot in the sun. A proper interior on that boat will be $3K+ and that's not including installation. On top of that, the trailer is questionable at best. At their current price, I would stay away.

Hi Jeff, awesome restoration by the way. I just offered $5k given the work needed. How much would your guy charge to work his magic on the gel coat and patch the tower holes? Side decals definitely need replacing back to original (looks like someone replaced them with wrong ones). I would probably keep the Bimini until I could find a gen 1 flight control tower. I think there is some potential but like you said the price is a factor. My focus would be bringing the gel coat back to life, tuning up engine/trans and finding a original tower and getting out out on water, interior probably replace a year or two down the road. Does the $3k include new cushions or is that just the skins? Do you know how many hours are on that Nautique? Thanks!
