    Tragic news out of NH

Apologies for the heavy post but a reminder to be vigilante in keeping your eyes on the water in front of you even at slow speeds.

A severe tragedy for this poor family. Thoughts and prayers to them.
A 12-year-old girl was killed in an accident Monday morning at Newfound Lake in Bridgewater.

I share these stories with my kids as they are now taking our boat out with their friends to wakesurf.

Very sad. A good reminder for sure.

Just last weekend I was watching a group of probably 10 people in a 19' I/O trying to waterski. In addition to the engine misfiring under load (it was a 4.3, unmistakable haha) they were trying to pick up a (probably beginner) skier on two skis by going full throttle from a dead stop. When the person had the rope pulled out of their hands, the boat would continue to accelerate onto plane, then maybe start to turn around. Then it would continue 200-300 feet beyond the skier - still WOT - in the opposite direction, and then try to turn around, and slow way down, then idle back to the skier, slowly. All this while there were other people tubing right in the same area, it's scary stuff.

This tragic accident occurred just a few miles from me on a different lake, but it's sad to see all the same, and it makes me want to go out and talk to people who are doing things like I witnessed last weekend. I've gone out and given tips to people who were struggling to get up before. I don't want to be an amateur lake police, but I don't want to witness a tragedy either.
