Looking to upgrade (what to look for?)

Well we have finally decided to upgrade my faithful 97 Sport Nautique. We have owned this boat since 1998 purchased it from Ron's Marine in Cleveland Ohio area its been a great boat!. We are now looking to upgrade to a 99-2005 v-drive SAN or Nautique super sport. What should I be aware of for boats in that time frame? I remember reading somewhere that the instruments had some problems. All advice is welcome.
