As long as you wash it down well after, your trailer will be fine if only doing it once or twice a year. the problem with salt is that you can never really get rid of it just dilute it. As long as you give it a good jet wash there should be no problems, and if your going to be putting it in fresh water soon after i definitely would not worry about it.

If the exhaust manifolds and risers have flaky rust in them, should they be replaced or would they be ok if you get most of it knocked off?

My 90 sport lived its first 15 years in freshwater. It now is a saltwater boat. I have used it a dozen times in the salt. I took the advice from many on this list and took the following actions to slow down the corrosive effects: spraying the engine and electrical connections with Corrosion Block and installing a brake drum flush kit. Here is what I have noticed so far. Green tinge on my 3 fins and drain hole flange. Rust starting on every spot on my trailer that where the paint is chipped. I have started sanding rust spots on my trailer and using a rust neutralizer primer and repaint. It was hard to put her in salt but….. I can have the boat in the saltwater in 15 mins or drive an hour and a half both ways for fresh.

          No big deal

          wakewatcher --

No big deal if the boat's been in saltwater, as long as it's been rinsed well after use. If you don't see anything obvious, then don't worry about it. I've been out in saltwater with my boat many times and have absolutely no problems -- don't sweat it !!
